i'm game developing today! yes, i agree. it's inefficient to try to play smash, play guitar, develop a game, work on school & work, and all while having a social life. but i do get bored of one and this gives me options to go to another hobby whenever i want to.
the downside is, it takes me a hell of a lot more time to finish anything like this but at least i have fun doing it.as some of you know, i'm working on a game called "cursed black." I had a little more time to work on it today (after not being able to work on it since the summer) and here's what i did for about an hour:I decided that because this is something that's taking up so much of my time, that i'm NOT going to restrict myself to only have elements in the original creepypasta. that was the plan because i wanted this game to legitimately look like a real copy of the "Pokemon Black" cartridge. BUT, i want to add things that i would like players to see, like having Patrat appear in Route 22. As you can see, he already has a slot dedicated to him, as well as Salamance and Cyndaquil. this is patrat: i worked on adding more pokemon slots because this whole time my engine has only had about 14 pokemon programmed in and because i'm not too sure what i was working on in the summer, i'm just going to work now on something i know needs to eventually get done, like imputing this simple information of pokemon and their stats.
Im wondering if there were any pokemon fangames that really took off? I mean, I've heard of many in progress before, but I never found one in later stages, as if they all gave up… feel free to correct me on this though.
I like the patratI believe there's a few finished Pokémon games made with a Pokémon engine for RPG Maker as well as a few finished ROM hacks, but games completely made from scratch? I highly doubt so.
I think that during the few years I attempted to make Pokémon games in Game Maker, I've imported over 4000 different subimages and added stats for around 700 different Pokémon, most of them being dupes since I'd imported them before but used a new system in a new engine etc. Makes me wonder how optimal and efficient your engine is with handling stats and Pokémon and all right now :)I could've done one, but it got boring and/or tedious to make external stuff (menus, pokémon catching, etc) on a pretty early stage even if you had a really comfortable core engine. I have some future plans on making my own Captain Ersatz with less of that crap, because cloning all Poké functionalities takes AGES.
Anyway, here's Pokémon of the Caribbean.https://app.box.com/s/owuz06uq18v4ktxg5zk8
