Some dude with a blue Acura on the freeway and his license plate saying "Articuno" inspired me to rename the decade old retired name and change it to "Umbreon" as its one of my fav's :)

Its scary to think about. But I hit a hard wall careerwise; for the next few years I'm going to be a paramedic here. I've signed a contract and i'm going to keep it, at risk of having to pay my job back for them paying for my school and sign-on bonus. Even if I didn't care about that, what would mostly get me is guilt that I agreed to stay as a medic here for years but bail. It's not a good look and it would rub my subconscious the wrong way.

I felt super dramatic while I was going back to paramedic school. In retrospect, it was a short time. A year and a half goes by fast, and it really did. But it felt like two years, three years even, and it was super stressful. I broke down several times, not all in private. But I got through it, and I have free time again between work shifts, which is super nice. Been playing Pokemon, and completing achievements through RetroAchievements and retro emulation handhelds. I made a post MANY years ago about the GP2X, a Korean handheld device back in the 2007 era, and to look back at that device and how ahead of its time it was, it was crazy to think about (I mean, multimedia, emulation up to GBA, PSX, touchscreen, homebrew, sheeesh).

My current devices of choice are the Retroid Pocket 2+ and the PowKiddy RGB10Max 2, super solid devices that play my Pokemon ROMs real comfy, and connect to RetroAchievements.org for my accomplishments to be recorded. Its been fun.

I realize this site has been dead for years… but do I really? And is it really? It's 2022 and I'm still posting LOL how is that "dead"?

"Hot take" of the month: Pokemon Legends Arceus came 5 to 10 years too late and even though it's a good game, again, it's too little too late. Game Freak has been rehashing the same formula for too long and is a soulless husk of a company that needs to all retire or give it up. PLA has not restored any faith in them at all, and just further solidifies the fact they need to give up the IP to someone that gives at least a single fuck.
