The Blue Screen of Death!? [17]

Posted by Nighthawk on July 27, 2007, 10:10 p.m.

This is so frustrating! You remember back when I was complaining about my adware? Well, I didn't stop because my spyware blockers got rid of it. I stopped because I got used to it, and figured you were all sick of hearing about it. Now, it's worse, it actually killed my spyware blockers! That's right, not only is it more annoying than anything I've ever had, it's actually killing any attempts to remove it! The worst part is, that my blockers aren't the only thing it's killing, my computer has been getting the Blue Screen of Death a lot over the past two days. I can only hope I don't get it while typing this message. I'll hang on as long as I can, since I can't afford a new computer. I've already put my GM projects on a memory stick, so don't worry, they'll be back. Anyway, if I just stop coming all of the sudden, you'll know why. I'll be able to visit now and then from other computers, but not nearly as often. Well, I'm hoping that this isn't my last entry for a few months. Bye.

Reinstall windows?

When it gets that bad, reinstalling windows is the best action to take. Then immediately downloading Spybot Search and destroy, Adaware 2007, and at least one commercial(pay for) virus/spyware/malware program.

Look in processes for anything obscure. End it. Anti-spyware it.bGooge the processes for removal instructions.

Go drown yourself in the lake while you're at it

There is a safe mode though, y'know? No networking? Practically gives antiviruses ring0?

Reformat and reinstall.

@ TS: My computer is about 6 years old, it's not worth much at all.

@ ghg: Hm, I tried it before with no success, but after reading your post I went to try that again and it worked! It doesn't solve the blue screen of death problem, (That usually happens at startup) but at least it takes care of the adware for now. [:)]
