I made it! First, it took me a day to do something, then I reformated everything and started over again today… but now it works! I have XP, Vista and Ubuntu running on my machine side by side!
It was a pain in the a$$, I'll tell you that! Reason? M$ sucks! Bad! Ok, so, I start the procedure for the first time. I use bootable CD from Acronis, make partitions the way I want to, and restart. So far, so good. I install Win XP. No problems here. Then I install Vista… It goes well up until first restart. Then I come to the point where boot loader sholud appear and I get to choose my OS… MEEP! WRONG! NOTHING HAPPENS! Except the cursor blinks on the bottom of the screen like a little village idiot. Blink, blink, blink…Ok, once again… Reformat. XP. Vista. Blink, blink, blink… awww, screw you! Reformat, Xp, Ubuntu. Everything's fine. I install my drivers and favourite apps on XP. I post about my trobles on a forum swearing both M$ and Vista… Then some guy said that I should let Vista format the drive i'm installing it on, not format it myself. Ok… I prepare the partition for Vista, install… Blink, blink, blink… Shit! Ok, now XP won't boot and I have it set up allready… XP install CD, recovery console, fixboot… works! Ok, I removed Ubuntu before installing Vista, let's get it back… Installed. I try to load XP, but then some DLL is missing! AAARGH! Ok, I got to Ubuntu, take my XP CD, copy the DLL, now to paste it to windows/system32… BUT MY WINDOWS FOLDER IS GONE! WTF? I format everything, install Vista just to see it and call it a day…Ok, today I woke up. Let's try a different approach… Vista's up, now let's try to install XP… XP installs, but he can't "see" Vista and there's no way to start it. I install Ubuntu, but he can't see Vista either… THAT DOES IT! I wipe the HDD, and I mean everything, I remove the partitions, leave the whole HDD unallocated… XP, Vista… WORKS! I don't know which idiot wrote Vista's bootloader, but all I can say to him is PWNED! I install Ubuntu… works like a charm! So everything works now, except my XP ended up on G: and Vista on H:… BUT I DON'T GIVE A F*CK!To end this, here's a little screenshot:DesktopIt's my XP desktop, looks a bit like Vista (but not completely, I wanted it that way), and if you look at drive icons you'll see little penguins… So, yeah, a style that reflects all OSes I have installed [:P]
I get free Vista [:D]
I just borrowed an ADSL router from my friend and I'm typing this from Ubuntu! YAY! It took me about 30 seconds to configure! Ubuntu FTW!
