http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/1640/shipgameoverworldfm8.pngAs shown in the last screenshot, I've already set out to demonstrate the size of the game's environment.I'm currently working on the battle system. Firing canons seems strait-forward enough (pressing the space bar when the cannons are said to have been loaded), however, determining how ship react to you when you approach them, aside from whether the country is at war with yours, which determines if they'll fight or flee, yet also how various ships may want to fight. For instance, a smaller ship, having the advantage of speed, may want to circle the enemy ship while firing upon the larger ship, whereas larger ship may simply want to fire as often as they can to blow their enemy out of the water.Once I've built a reliable battle system, I'll release it as a demo, and from there I'll work at how the player interacts with the towns and cities.
Looks cool, the graphics fit with each, even though they aren't too high def.
I have yet to make a tiling engine… maybe I'll do that right now.The land masses (if that's what they are) are too bright, as is the water. You may want to tone that down a bit. :)
Apart from that, it sounds and looks pretty good.Graphics = eh, concept = nice.
Looks like it could be a very promising project. I'm sure you can improve the land and water a little, but the ship sprites are rather nice. This looks like Uncharted Waters of the New Horizon 2 on the sega looks cool!
Yeah, darken it. My eyes would hurt after playing that.
Looks cool. The islands could use a bit of work though.
