Why does everyone hate my RPG stuffs?

Posted by Requiem on June 3, 2006, 1:51 p.m.

Seriously, almost every comment I've heard so far is basically: "I hate it".

1) It's not like I took out the rest of the site's functionality to put it in there. I mean, the Badges use a LOT more server-power than those little stat bars.

2) To those who say it's useless: Well, duh, I just added it. Should we never have Member Points because they're useless right now?

3) I think someone commented that it was like those crappy RPG mods for some forums. I'd like to point out that those systems are usually placed in crappy forums. And you guys don't even know what I'm going to do with the thing yet. (Actually, neither do I. Any suggestions)

Now then, enough with the Rantjob of the Week. Time for something completely different:

Also, raise your hand if you like my new Recent Activity bar.

*whole world raises hand*

That's what I thought.

Um…no? They're turned off by default, and if people want them, they turn it on.

Personally, I love the way it's developing. It looks awesome so far, and I can't wait to battle other people. Even just buying stuff will be cool.

I don't think people think it's lame because they think it adds too much to the server load. I'll tell you why I don't like it…

I think it takes away from the site. This site, save for a lot of the stupid blog titles, comes off looking nice, sleek, and somewhat intelligent. The RPG system makes it look like a children's playground, and it only appeals to a certain group of people. I like RPG's, but I know there are many who don't… If I want to play an RPG, I'll fire up Oblivion.

It's also going to be lame because mods will inevitably give themselves crazy gear, ridiculous HP and MP levels, etc, and will smite anyone with one hit… What's the fun in that?

I agree with <b>Nobody</b> though - this kinda stuff will hinder people from joining the site.

Just my opinion though… and not my website! I am glad that you added the checkbox to turn off the RPG stuff, so maybe that will suffice. [:P]

I thought 64D was a hosting/blog site, not an MMORPG based in HTML/PHP.

this rpg stuff is weird now but i think that its headed in the right direction.

i don't agree with FredFredrickson and Nobody becaus the rpg stuff would look interesting, i think.

It just think it makes the site look silly and unprofessional. I mean, maybe if 90% of the community has a negative reaction to it, you should consider whether or not it's a necessary addition.

listen, jakex. make the rpg! thatll be cool but MAKE IT ON A DIFFERENT SITE! dont integrate it with 64digits. this is a gamemaker site. the rpg will take over 64d. the site is gonna become like runescape or something and the rest of 64d in all its pride will be lessened. make it like www.rpg.64digits.com or something that isnt interlaced with the site. make it different.

It IS off by default… and if it is off for that user, you can't see any of it.
