I haven't been very active at all recently, but I still have time to look at a few blogs and some games, and I have to say,
You're all doing such a good job!The quality of games has really improved recently, and its encouraging me to think about getting back into the GM scene, (as I now have more free time since I've finished all my coursework…)The problem is, as all people here get it, is that I lack ideas…I don't want to do a platformer as there too unorigonal, shooters are to similar to what I've done before, and puzzlers have a fairly complex base to the code, (for me that is, as puzzles have no real base/model and the coding is very co-ordinate based (I'm talking about block-type puzzles here..))I don't know, maybe I should start simple or something.. try making something new, or something unpopular, maybe one of those trading puzzles, I haven't seen many of them, (last one I played was a flash game)Maybe even a multiplayer mode, where you have to get a random object and try to get the target object before your opponent, (although that could be complicated, but an interesting challenge…)Sorry to bore you, its that I haven't blogged in a while, because of my dreamcast addiction and school… But I promise, I will contribute to this site soon.. (I think I need to plan more…)And remember: You, as a group, are doing brilliantly, the best tbhis site's been in a while, I left during an incredibly dry spell (where a few other older members left..), but I'm back now! So deal with it!!(If you don't know who I am, then don't worry about it! I'm not bothered one way or another…)
I've noticed that, in general, the quality of games (not just here at 64D) has been improving, which means more competition. =O
I've nearly finished all my coursework. It's nice to finally come to the end of something which has been going on for ages. I finished 4 pieces of coursework this week, and hardly have any work left to do (until my exams D= )I find it hard deciding what to make as a game, but if I did start a new game I'd do a scrolling shooter, because they are nice and simple to make, but can be made vastly original and awesome.I don't like making puzzle games at all, and find them rather boring.Multiplayer games are fun, make one =DYou should get back into GM.Yeah I should, shouldn't I,
In fact I think I'm going to go for the trading game idea, think of it like that side quest of the zelda oracle games, but smaller and a bit tougher (but I think I'll include a sort of character bios ingame so you can get a few hints from descriptions, (but maybe I should put some sort of limit on it on harder difficulty levels, so people can't cheat..)(Maybe a few hidden items that can be traded to 'fixed' characters which unlock minigames)good thing I'm typing, or I'll lose this amazing brainwave I'm having (maybe its because i'm exploring a very under-explored sub-genre)Yay, brainwave! Write it all down quick, or you'll spend ages trying to remember it.
I've just typed it in my last reply, mwahahaha!!
Fate.. you just lost a browny point…(fires shotgun at fate…)No! Fate! ='(
mwahahahaa!! I am like a ninja..
A BIG FAT NINJA!! With a shotgun!(omg! the deadliest kind…)A ninja with a shotgun? 0.o
Use a minigun! ^.^A minigun gives me a headache…
But a shotgun has nostalgia, that nice smokey aftersmell, and makes a nice big BOOM!!Hmm…how about simething more ningaish, like shuriken!
aaah, but my enemies would be expecting me to use the usual ninja weapons, and would put up anti-nija weapon barriers (basically a very big sheild/suit of armour), and we all know that shotguns can penetrate these defenses..
