[RV] Waiting...

Posted by RetroVortex on April 7, 2007, 4:19 p.m.

I'm waiting for the new custom firmware 3.30OE-A to be released for the psp, and the wait is annoying me!

I want to play more PS1 games on the PSP, (maybe tron bonne will work properly!)

Anyways on to my blog! (Which has now suddenly become structured! [:O])

Projects

Not really anything going on, might make a minigame or something, as soon as I can be bothered to..

Life

What is there to say? its a holiday, I'm bored, its not my birthday, and I've run out of cheese…

Noooooo!!!

Oh, and I made myself a new banner using GIMP.

I don't think its too bad for a few minuites of work..

News

Don't have any news to 'discuss' today, maybe I'll find something to report.

Today's Issue

A new section of my blog!

Today's issue is commerciallism of homebrew, is it a good thing or a bad?

The Good

Commercialism is good as it is encouraging more people, who would usually steer clear of homebrew to become more involved, and more homebrew is released!

A recent example of homebrew support is Codejunkies and their 'Games and Music' for the DS. They have made a website which gives links to some homebrew and the price is fair so it could be more appealing to the average consumer.

The Bad

The problem with commercialism with homebrew is the decrease of quality of games made in general. I'm sure that some of you know that as Game Maker grew in popularity, the number of poor quality games increased as well.

This can also decrease the number of more experienced members of a community, because the place becomes less personal, and rules can get in the way of moral values, (as this is the reason that many people leave the GMC and join 64Digits) , which can make some people feel isolated and often discouraged from continuing a project.

This concludes my part of the discussion, but before I end my blog I would like to ask a question:

Do you think commercalism of homebrew is a good thing or a bad thing?

Also feel free to share your veiws as I would find it most interesting…
