So that got your attention… ahem…
Today in the life of me the day was slow. I annoyed lots of people, learned one or two things and then went home…Thats it! Thats all there is to it! Thats all I've done..sucks don't it..I'm a complete loser in my school. I don't drink, don't party, i'm not 'in the know', and apparently I smell funny to.So thats it about my life, time to get on with business…This little racing project I'm working on is going well, but I'm not really working on it as such, I'm making the car select menu, and I think so far its pretty cool:Apart from the cars, the ? boxes, and the scrolling background, that was all done using draw functions, pretty cool, (well..for me it is…)The other menu's such as course select, will look similar, but with different colours i.e red, greenAfter I finish this, I'm going to work on the actual gameplay, making a.i. and courses, and actual graphics to the levels.Oh I need some feedback:What do you think is better:- A load of courses(say around 20), but not with a lot of themes…or- A few courses (say around 8..) but each has a different theme…The advantage of a lot of levels is that there will be more to do, but then again they might get quite similar and boringThe advantage of less levels is that they will have more variety, but the player might get bored quickerWhich do you think is better?EDIT: I just checked out the competition at music lib, and…I'M GOING TO LOOOSE!! I'm just not good enough…oh well, at least I tried…
You took my blog of the front page. [:(]
I'm sorry mastermind, If I knew then I would've posted later…
But what's done is done and I can't change what has already been done…Change your title. It has nothing to do with youre blog.
I thought I really was getting a pie.Sorry blueboy…
I just wanted an actual response for a change…oh and here's a pie:I'd prefer a few courses, but I'd like them to get harder and harder quite fast, so that it'll be very hard to beat the last level.
Rather a few well designed levels than very many poor levels. That is what I feel as well…
I will make the stages fairly challenging, but as well as complex track layout, I'm thinking of having obstacles (such as a shootoff in a western level) and shortcuts which I think will add to the depth of the gameplay..And don't worry, I intend the last level to be very hard, and the game won't have a sissy point system win mode (10 points for first, 8for second), its going to have a 'you win this or else you can't go further' type level style, but don't worry I'll give you lot the option to continue a race if you lose (I wouldn't want you to be cruelly sent back to level 1) but I'm thinking of making the last car unlockable by winning each stage without continuing (to make it more playable..)Oh and I'm not going to make a easy setting either, so it will be no setting, or Normal/Hard2 levels per theme.
sounds great, I'm looking forward to try it out!
