Tales of Actila I: Aquilus

Hi.

While other members are working on their designated parts of Conflict Online, Pim Schreurs and I have started working on a new game series (although we're still considering whether to make an actual series or just one game). We've decided to make a really in-depth story/concept, just for a change (seeing as Conflict Online has little story at all). Our first (and like I said, possibly only) chapter in the series is called "Aquilus", and I was hoping you could read the story/concept and tell me what you think, in case our project isn't good enough to start physical work on.

Tales of Actila I: Aquilus Basic Concept=======

::===Concept by Rhys Andrews and Pim Schreurs==

Story: When the world was created, there was no colour. People lived in depression their whole life, for there was nothing bright in their life. However, there was once an alchemist who believed there had to be something in life to give us a positive attitude. He started mixing chemicals, and before long, created "colour". It was such a beautiful thing, he became the happiest man in the land. He still felt guilt in the back of his mind for using all this colour to himself. He decided to design a device that coloured everything in the world. It took enormous power, but so long as it was placed correctly, the world would be able to have full colour; making everybody have second thoughts about ending their lives. The alchemist designed 3 amulets. Each held a small amount of liquid-colour, and each had a different primary colour. The colours included red, yellow, and blue. He placed these amulets into his device, and pulled the lever. With a huge flash of light, all the land fell into full colour. A rainbow appeared in the sky. Hundreds of years later, the legend of colour had vanished through generations, and colour was something that was assumed "always there". However, the legend was soon to be revealed. An elderly man by the name of Improbus, an explorer, discovered a huge device at the top of the tallest mountain. It was completely untouched for what seemed to be centuries. In the device lay 3 amulets; fit into beds perfectly. Improbus took the 3 amulets and, turning around, realised the world had fallen to darkness; just black and white. He replaced the amulets, and the world was back in colour. Completely shocked yet fascinated, he stole the amulets and took them to his labs. Improbus realised the amazing power inside these amulets. Each primary colour had a unique power, and with the world colourless, the world had fallen weak, and depressed. He also realised that mixing liquids together will make more unique powers. Improbus imitated and re-processed these 3 liquid-colours into 6 powers (Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Green, Orange), and then designed/produced "colour staffs", which could process the liquid colour into physical power. Improbus was now the most powerful man in all the land… however nobody knew. Improbus decided to start an army of soldiers to spread out the news that Improbus is the new king, and that he challenges anyone who wants to say otherwise. Improbus invaded a capital city, and all citizens became soldiers under his command. They were then split into 6 classes. Each soldier received a colour-staff, and litres of a certain liquid-colour (according to their class). Improbus also thought ahead, and decided to send the 3 original amulets to his 3 greatest warriors, to guard the amulet with their life. These amulets could be used to bring colour back into the world, completely disregarding Improbuses' army's power; so the amulets needed to be guarded to stop that from happening.

Concept: You find a dead Improbus soldier, and you take his colour-staff. Nobody else has seen these colour-staffs before, as they are too weak compared to the coloured solders. You don't know what it's for, so you return it to your friend, a scientist. Over a few more actions you figure out the complete story, and realise you need to use the staff to save the world from domination by the Improbus Army. The staff, stores "Liquid Colour", and can convert colour into its unique power. The staff was found originally with a half-full cartridge of liquid-red. Red, being the lowest frequency on the visible spectrum, has only the power of slightly burning a target. However, soldiers/worshippers of the Improbus Army have been given a body of various colours from the visible spectrum, each giving them unique powers. When these soldiers are killed, their colour is released as liquid-colour, which can easily be stored in your backpack for use with your staff at any time. You will need to, over time, kill all 3 amulet guardians, and return each amulet, to retrieve the worlds colour. You will then need to destroy the Improbus army once and for all.

Powers;

Red - Burns a Target

Orange - Sets a Target on Fire

Yellow - Shocks a Target

Green - Heals Targets

Blue - Burns THROUGH targets

Violet - Disintegrates a Target

Thanks

So… you're creating this game? Or is this a design for others to use?

Never mind. I read the top again. THis should be 1 game.

THis is a great design. Of course, this sounds like an Intro. Use the colors to solve puzzles, ect. You get the idea. THis should be a great game if done right.

It'd be pretty cool. I'd play it.

Wows, that was alot of reading. Its a fun story, and the games concept is also fun. If you don't mess it up the game itsself sould be fun.

Only one game, though, the story would always sound funny in a sequeal.

I'm creating this game; a GameCave project.

If there were a sequel it would not be anything to do with colour; yet a different story in time. "Tales of Actila" is named so as it's a writer writing these stories (well at least this is what we're thinking of doing), and the book get written as you progress through the game.
