It's my birthday today! Great, i'm finally not 14. Took forever. Got that out of the way, let's move on to other things.
I've been working quite a bit on the GameCave Console lately, and since it's being completely rewritten, i haven't gotten very far; Although it's really cool, you can move the console around and resize it. If you use the enterprise edition of the console you can define various points that the user can access to move the console; for instance if a developer chooses a resize point at 0,0 with size 5; The user can resize the console if he puts his mouse within 5 pixels of the top-left corner of the console (the developer also chooses what type of resizer it is; north/south, west/east, or those diagonal ones). So yeah, that took a lot of calculating but was really fun to do too.The developer can also do extra methods of designing the console. For instance, in the current public version (second edition) you can only choose between a sprite or a rectangle for each part of the console (text-box, scrollbar, etc); Where as in this version you can choose from any shape; ellipses, rectangles… even freaking triangles; You can choose the colours and whether it's outlined or not. You can even have as many background-layers as you want, which is cool for say having skies scrolling in the background of your console. Now just to consider various methods of making the whole game freeze when the console is down. Anyway, you could expect the console within 6 months; maybe. We'll see how it works out, Conflict is in serious need of working on. -Rhys
Hey, happy birthday =D
I was impressed by the first GameCave Console, but that sounds just awesome. The background-layer thing sounds awesome, does the image have the shape of the console box ? A dumb question I know. Good luck with getting conflict finished. =)happy birthday :)
Happy birfday.
happy b-day =)
happy birthday!!
GameCave Console rewritten?? =0j/k XDanyways, sounds awesome, so i'm hoping for it to be up to GCC standards!!Yeah; GameCave Console gets completely rewritten every time i work on the next version; Just because each line of code can easily conflict with new features, etc. So I find it easier to write it all again than to work from the previous engine. That includes rewriting the 20-page manual.
Sounds great, but MAKE SURE YOU CAN TURN THOSE FEATURES OFF, and I mean COMPLETELY. Don't need extra lag in games.
