Double variable jumping?

TITLE CHANGE because everyone seems to think my offhand comment about badger badges is actually worth discussing…heh.

There should be a badger badge. Someone should really take care of that. Anyway…

I've been working on a platform engine lately, and I've actually made progress. I've tried before, but I never really got into it, and I wasn't very good at coding at the time. Now I've used tips and tricks from all over to make the ULTIMATE PLATFORM ENGINE!! It's not really new and inovative, as it's just for my personal use.

So far I've got:

double jumping,

ramps,

horizontal moving platforms,

jump-through platforms,

conveyor belts,

launching blocks, and

falling (unstable) platforms

more to come. I figure if I finish this, then I'll be obligated to make some sweet graphics and make a game. (GASP, actually finish something??)

What does everyone think about double jumping versus variable jumping? I like both systems, but they don't seem to work very well together. As is, I'm using double jumping with no variable jumping, but it could get annoying that way. What about a separate key for a small hop? Or is that kinda cheap?

And……end.
