Heroine. Funny word.

At about midnight last night, my built in GPS started beeping. "*sigh* Why now?!" I thought to myself. I got up out of bed and changed into my uniform. I looked out the window to see John waiting down the street for me. I hopped in the car and we drove off to headquarters.

"Boss says he has a job for you." John told me.

"He always has a job for me. I'm the only super hero that doesn't get any sleep because of it."

"That's cause you're the best. Or so he thinks." Jerk.

He pulled into the underground HQ garage and parked the car. We walked into the elevator and stood in silence as it went up. Top floor. Pent house. The usual.

Boss was sitting in his big chair like all the bosses do in cartoons. Fire place behind him burning wood while his dog slept on the floor. Unbelievable. The dog was getting more sleep than I was. I demand I new contract.

"Do you know why I asked you to come here tonight?" Boss asked me.

"Um, cause you wanna see me suffer from lack of sleep?"

He laughed. "No no, silly girl. I've asked you to come here for this," He pulled out a file from his desk. "You're contract expires today. I've asked you to come so that we can… negotiate some sort of terms…"

"You think I still wanna work for you?!" I snapped. "You deprive me of sleep and make me work my ass off killing villains for you so the ungrateful bastards of this city can live happy lives!! I have scars and bruises from all of my battles! My tailor and I are best friends because I constantly have to repair my suit…"

"There's a 50 percent pay increase."

"Where do I sign?"

So yeah, Rowdy Girl saves her bank account again!

"But before I pull out the papers, I have a job for you…"

*SIGH*
