... Read Meeee

Posted by Ronnica on Dec. 26, 2008, 3:27 a.m.

Anyways, I've been recovering nicely from the beating I got (read last blog) and I decided to go for a walk to the park near my house (I had to tell people I was visiting my dad). It wasn't all that cold out, so I only wore a sweater ontop of a t-shirt and my jeans. Smart.

As I walked to my favorite tree, I heard the familiar sound of a gun being loaded. I froze in my steps and listened as someone came close. Very close. Before I could turn to see who it was, a familiar voice said, "Don't move." After a short moment of silence, I was tackled to the ground as someone in the distance fired a gun. Whoever it was that tackled me had amazing reflexes because they fired their gun to some target way off next to the play ground where a bigger man fell to the ground. From where I was standing I could see the bullet got him in his left eye socket and was probably burried in his brain. Gross.

Realizing I had been saved I looked up at the person shielding me with their body. My eyes widened in a mixture of surprise and pain from my ribs as I looked into a pair of cyan coloured eyes. The same eyes belonging to Mattox, a friend of mine that I've known since kindergarden.

"Uh, thank you…" I managed to stutter, never pulling my eyes away from his.

"You should really be more careful. Honestly Rowdy, it's like you get stupid with age." That was Mattox alright. He got off of me and brushed some snow off of his leather jacket. I slowly sat up and held my stomach.

"Broken ribs?" he asked.

"How can you tell?"

"Considering you only come outside when you're sick, and the way you were standing, it was kind of obvious. Not to mention the fact that you look like you're in serious pain…"

"Shut up Matt." I said. I stood up quickly and despite my pain, I hurried off back towards my house.

He walked after me, "Hey, sorry but you asked. And you should really sit or something, you're not well."

"Why are you even here? What the hell do you want?" I snapped. He looked at the ground for a quick second before looking at me with those eyes.

"I was after that guy," he motioned to the corps on the ground off near the park. "For some reason, he was waiting here for you." I gave him a puzzled look.

"You're a bounty hunter?" I asked.

"I am. That's not the point. The point is, a hitman with $100,000 on his head and 291 kills under his belt was hiding at a public park, waiting for YOU. Why would he do that?"

He hid his concern with his face, but I could see it in his eyes. In our thirteen years of knowing eachother, this was the first time I could see he cared. Rubbing my sore side I said, "I'm in serious trouble Mattox…"

EDIT: Who changed my title from "… Read Me" to "… Read Meeee" ??

@ Acid : I can't believe I clicked that.

@ Bry : Mattox isn't dead. Atleast I hope not =S After we talked, it was dark out and I went back home. He had to wait for someone to come and pick him up and approve the dead corps and pay Matt for the kill.
