...I Was A Tikky Tak For Halloweeners! (And Other Bad News)

Posted by Ronnica on Nov. 1, 2010, 8:19 p.m.

Tikky Tak is my way of saying Kitty Kat. Halloween was okay 'cept for the fact that I had to work. I wasn't supposed to but they asked me to come in, which meant that I had to show some Halloween spirit. I spent an hour before work running around the mall looking for something to wear.

That night when I got home, I set up the candy and sat by the front door with my laptop, waiting for the kids to ring my bell. Best costumes were Mario and Luigi. Funny thing was, they didn't show up together.

Next Day/Today (Day Of Blog Post) blahblahblah

Today was seniors day at work (10% all seniors purchases, 15% when you use an HBC credit card or MasterCard) and I got called in early.

I was to take over for a manager who was filling in for someone who called in sick at the register in the restaurant (we've got a restaurant in the store) and that's the hardest register to be at because you do restaurant clients, people who want to buy cigarettes, and sometimes handle returns and exchanges.

Anyways, my FIRST customer of the day was an old man who was buying a bunch of groceries. This one thing he was buying, (a sponge on a stick thing) rang in at $3.99. He asked how much it came in at, I told him, and he goes,

"There's a sign that says $2.88."

So I said, "Oh, well then I'll fix it for you…"

"No, you gotta give it to me for free."

I thought he was kidding, "Heh, no, sorry. But I'll fix it-"

"NO, you HAVE to give it to me for FREE."

Shit got serious. "Sorry sir, we don't do that. But I'm happy to correct the price-"

"Well other stores do it for free. So give it to me for free!"

Luckily, a supervisor walked by, and I asked her to come help me out.

"What's the problem?" She asks.

"This guy says I have to give him this for free because it's marked wrong."

She made a serious face and shook her head, "No, we don't do that."

"Well he's giving me attitude."

She picks up the phone and calls the store manager (the one who's overly nice to me >_>) and passes the phone to me to talk to him. He answers, and I tell him what's going on, and he says he'll be there right away.

He shows up, I'm about to tell him what's going on, and the old guy interrupts me explaining it.

Store manager says, "I apologize, but we do not give things for free-"

"Well Superstore and Walmart do it!"

"Yes, most grocery stores do that, but that's a thing they choose to honor, we don't do that here. But we can give it to you for the advertised price." Which is what I've been saying that whole time.

The old guy nods and says, "Alright then," points to ME, "then you should train your people to stop making mistakes."

I raised my hand and shrugged as if to say "WHAT?!" because I was doing everything right, and this old guy just wanted to get the last word in. I was so pissed off. The store manager, wanting to get the guy the hell out of the store, looked at me apologetically and said to the man, "Well I'm sorry about that." and walked away.

I almost jumped over the counter to punch the old man in the face and confront him. He's an old MAN. MAN! He sure didn't act like a man, he was just taking advantage of the fact that he is elderly, and was a super jerk. He was an 80 year old - 2 year old, haha. Arg. Ugh. Bah!

Anyways, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO effingMUCH!!!!

I'm glad you clarified that and posted a picture, because for a second there I thought you went dressed up as a giant breath mint.

@Ronni: Thanks I noticed.

Also, in retail, there are retards all the time. They also assume that whoever they are looking at, its their fault because theyre "the customer and theyre always right" haha i was a cashier before.
