[Ross]Granfather is doing better

Posted by Ross on Aug. 21, 2008, 9:40 p.m.

My grandad was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, as some of you already know from my past blog. Well, we didn't officially know it was Parkinson's disease until he took his medicine. If the medicine worked, we knew he had it; and if it didn't, which there wasn't much of a chance of the begin with, he did not have it. Well after a few days of taking his medicine, he is already showing dramatic changes for the better. He is acting like his old self, and no longer acting like a man with Parkinson's. I am hoping the recent developments mean that he can have a normal life for a while, like the doctors said he should have. If that's the case, I am hoping for the longest possible span of him having a normal life (doctors say the true maximum is around ten years). So yes, I am happy, and I just got off the phone with him, and he sounds fine, so that's the reason why I'm happy.

Also, to all of you that wished me good luck through this, I am really grateful to you. Those messages acted as a pick-me-up when I was really feeling depressed. So, thanks to all of you who wished me good luck.

So he does have Parkinson's but is better, or he doesn't have Parkinson's and is better?

Either way, good to here.

Is this good or bad? I mean, sure you get him back, but at the cost of knowing that his time is far more limited that previously thought.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad though…

My grandfather died a few years ago and I have to say it was a tough experience for me. When I was young, I never had much interest in hanging out with my grandparents. Well, I started getting a little older and started to go fishing with him, and it was a lot of fun. I only got to go a couple of times, then he was diagnosed with cancer and died shortly after. Cherish your time with one another, our existence here is only for a short while.

Glad to hear the medication is working.
