Managed to find some time to get a little more done. Now that I have the editor and engine using the new save files loading is much faster.
While making my modifications I decided to finish up the contour system, which wasn't fully functional until now. The process will now take in to account tiles of various types and proximity to one another to create the proper contour mask.A tile will check to its sides, top, bottom and for walls it will check for like walls diagonal from it.Heres a screenshot that displays texture contouring from floors to cieilngs along with a map tastefully overlayed on the left with both floors of the room. You'll notice a change in the tiles which is another new feature that will be mentioned below. To make more sense of things in the editor, I decided to now flag layered and textured tiles. Layered tiles will be framed and contour tiles will be framed with a circular pattern of dots(it was a C but decided to make it less intrusive). The first shot is of the editor with new tile options, although the sample output hasn't been started and so its still empty. Concept image of tile optionsHeres a shot looking into the top floor of the cabin.I'm thinking for buildings I may want to stay with a oblivion approach of having their interiors in sub maps, but I can easily have dungeonous caverns that start outside and can sink deep below the ground(up to 10 floors downward). Anyways I'll keep it in mind when I'm ready to release another demo, this time with some more detailed levels.Theres still abit of work to do in the editor and after that some more fine tuning to the engine as well as adding working stairs/slopes and a teleport system to make maps more accessible.
Haha, that looks sweet mate. Keep up the great work.
For once……I agree with sk8 O_O
Looks good, good luck working on it.
Looks awesome! Good luck with the project, haven't actually seen many good projects put together with 3D these days, even the games produced by serious companies are lame now.
Nice.
Cool!
That's really starting to look good Scott.
wow. That would be great for a 3d FPS example for game maker that I found on the 'net.
It's called Phantom Engine.:DThat was hard to find, I'll have to check it out.
