I feel like I lost a month.

Really, where did it go?

Well I haven't touched a computer to do anything but work related stuff this past month+. I've just had no time, but it seems like things are starting to mellow out again and I may find myself back on the ambitious scene of game design and creation.

What time I have had I've been jotting down some notes on a revision for an old Sci-Fi rpg that has been on slow cook for at least 10 years. Its a very slow cooking process. No details on it today though.

I have aquired google's Sketchup, which is pretty much the best modeling program I've used. The only exception is that I haven't quite figured out how to UV map complex models, which is mildly annoying. With no internet at home it makes the help inaccessable too, so I'm just winging it.

So first thing I did was take my avatar and made it 3d, but then thats where the texturing mapping issue came in, so I decided to move on. Instead I brought out my old human model that I had roughly made in Anim8tor and began to clean it up.

These two shots show a much improved version in the latter. Sketchup makes cleaning up and modifing models very easy. If I can just get a better handle on setting the texture maps than I can easly recreate the content for The Crawl to make it smoother and more detailed looking.

If I do find myself with some free time I hope to completely rehaul the program from what I've learned from my other project(for my work). Making a completely on the fly interface with little to no rasterized graphics.

Interesting. Once I begin to learn more 3D we may have to talk about do a collab.

Sketchup is nice and all, but I still highly prefer cinema 4D.

Obel does too

There seems to be alot of wasted polygons there.

Oh, so it was you who left that month in the cupboard.

Its about 1000 faces for the new version. I'm still messing around with it, after I get it where I want it, I'll look into reducing the count. It will most likely go up before I ready to reduce it.

I'd go with a ref if I were you, looking very blow-up-dollish.

And I'm not a fan of smooth ploys (but that's entirely personal preference so ignore this).

Well I planned on using cell-shading for characters so I need smooth faces.
