I picked this up recently on a trip to Frys to grab a new usb stick, since I promised my wife I'd get something for her when I went.
Now we're both hooked.Aside from somewhat repetitive music, which can be forgiven, and reusing the same backgrounds a lot, its very well made. The visuals all fit in, animation is nicely done and makes use of vector movement vs frames animation. Additional plant unlocking is nicely paced between the levels, and overall the variety of plants and zombies makes up for a somewhat static backdrop.Even MJ makes his way onto your yard, what more can you ask for?So if you haven't played it yet, try it out.In other news, I would have a simple vid of what I've done in GLBasic reguarding* translating Rick Jason, but some how the file was corrupted or I used the wrong codec. Oh well.Menu screen is done, which was easy.Player control and shooting took a moment, but works nicely. So next on the list is to create the first enemy, enemy fire, and collisions. Say what you will about basic, but GLBasic seems to be one powerful tool.*Did this on purpose.
I decided to get in it a few days ago and I'm hooked as well. It's too bad there's a lot of useless plants :(
Its forgivable, sometimes I think its too easy, but then that captures a larger audience and its still a challange.
It was nice, but kind of easy.
I have a friend who was obsessed with this game a while back. I bought him the full version for his birthday, but promptly forgot to even try the game out myself.
I was hooked a few months ago on this. Excellent game. PopCap consists of talented people.
I would also recommend getting Peggle.Plants vs Zombies is really fun, but I find I use pretty much the same plants for each level. There are so many plants to unlock, and most of them I only used once just to see what they do.
I've found that happens a couple of times, some seem more useful in mini-games and others are kind of expensive for night levels.
