Of all my enemies, save for the boss, of the first level, none I procrastinated more than the bowman.
At issues is setting bones and posing, the pre-voxel phase for the models. Now I knew the bowman would be the trickiest because he has the most attached items, bow, quiver and an arrow. That and my animations must include a plucking from the quiver. So I finally got to setting up the bones and wound up needing more due to the extra items. It is now my most bony monster, with nearly 30 bones! I won't even talk about getting the bone influences correct…Anyway, I've finally completed most of the animations except the death, but damn, I'm going to have to go through this all over again for another archer unit.Of my monsters, the easiest was probably the Guardian, cuz he got no legs….Aside from the bowman, the slime creature, the Formless, has the most bones, a few more than the henchman monster.I forget how many the shadow turtle has, but that was also the easiest to animate. Now on to doing the gory death animation…Next challenge after that is creating the Scarlet Queen, who will have a similar intro animation as in the platformer, stands up from her throne and pulls out a sword that's impaled in her chest, and of course a happy blood gush that follows.
Bone rigging is never fun.
Yep, unless it's simple, but even then.
I tried to figure out some boner themed joke but I couldn't figure out any. :(
Posing and boning?
