Hi,
I just wanted to know why everyone hates YoYo Games. They are a good company. Sometimes they are informal, such as when writing the terms of services, but is that the whole reason? Please give YoYo Games a fair answer; I mean seriously, they made a better site than Mark alone did. The only bad thing was them using softwrap, but that doesn't mean the world ends, now does it?Discuss,Shadeplay
Since they joined with Mark, this is what I have seen:
1. A site, crappy layout, but, at least, a site. (+1 for them)2. A $15 raise in the price of Game Maker, to fuel this new site, and their greed.(-1)3. All the old Game Maker versions where hidden away in a page on gamemaker.nl, never again linked too by Game Maker makers.(-1)4. They took over the GMC without even helping with the overpopulation issue(that "Please wait 30 seconds and try to refesh the page" crap.(-1)5. They slap a logo on Game Maker, sure you can turn it off, but it is annoying as hell till you do. (-1)6. Competitions giving money away! (+1)7. That money should be used for the GMC's problem, instead of making Game Maker get more buyers who think they'll win one! (-1000)I could go on and on.Oh and, they spam the nice folks at 64Digits with merging invites.Hence this thing they have going!(-infinity)Oh look, it is GearGOD!XDMy feelings towards them are the same as Serprex'sBecause they don't give you full control over your game, a part of it is still theirs and you can't do anything about it :(
Hmm… because they think their site is "the only great place to upload and share GM games". Also because their download session is ALWAYS expired.
Also because of their "go and vote for us in this competition because you don't know of anyone else to vote for attitude". That, and their gigantic left-hand logo on the GMC (as if it wasn't bad enough).Basically, they seem to have an inflated ego. That's why I dislike them.I personally like YYG. Then again, I'm never one to join the bandwagon. In my opinion, any bandwagons formed at 64Digits are stupid and complete nonsense.
YYG just needs some moderation, though.I don't understand why people hate the GMC because of the board technology. Blame Invision, not YYG.YYG is a hub of crappy design, more expense, green, and a total commercialisation of GM.
Just the fact they changed registered to pro annoys me.All the anti-yoyo game arguments these days are either ill informed, or very minor issues that are out-weighed by the pros.
Nowhere has as many bad games as YYG, but nowhere has as many top quality games either.Meh, I just don't really like them because I wasn't able to transfer my registation over to thier version. I miss when you registered GM as a donation, not to unlock all features (although that ended before YYG had a say)
Mostly, I hate them for using softwrap that causes soooo many problems, and then although their website shows the top games and has instant play, the system isnt the best, its slow, and its been in beta for forever. theres no feature for quickly jumping to ur downloaded/favorite games to play them or anything cool like that.
so… they havent done much cept support for mac.@Kilin=Join the bandwagon of breathing people. What's this, you don't like to be on bandwagons? Oh well, nice knowing you
My opinion as to why people hate YoYo? Change. They don't want change. They want it left the way it is. Those who complain about the color are plain idiots; they don't count. As for taking over things, that can get rather annoying, but hey - like I said, it's all about an opposition to change. It seems they've made some better things, and in some peoples opinion, some bad moves as well, but to me it's much too early in the game to see where this is headed. Personally it's just time for me to sit back and watch what happens and then make a stand. As for those who hate the registration system most likely CRACKED game maker in the past, and the rest are people who have every right to get annoyed. In my opinion, it's annoying, but it's a security measure that's well worth it to avoid people from cracking the software. Blame them for the new form of security.
Overall I feel people got too comfortable with how GM has been, and are just being immature to the change. And that is how I stand - neutral and laughing at the people who talk ill of YYG until I see something truly worth complaining about.
