Hero's Fantasy: Song Of Dueplin Update 5/6/12

Just a small update blog on what's been done recently. If you didn't pay attention last time, after several revisions, the Dureel prison stage now looks like this-

This is the starting and introductory level of the game.

After quite a few other revisions I've got the battle system working properly. Essentially, you have an energy bar underneath your health and you can't attack unless it's full. When you start, at level 1, it takes 2 seconds for it to refill after every attack.

This leaves a lot of time you'll have to spend dodging or letting your Assist Character (party member) do the fighting. Oh by the way you've got assist characters in this game. You're able to have one at a time, and they don't have any HP or MP, thus they don't receive damage. Yet you are the one in control of most situations, which is why they simply assist.

This is the first assist charactger in the game, Clara. Clara functions similair to a theif from classic RPGs. Everytime Clara attacks there is a small chance of the enemy dropping money.

Yes I know the table needs work XD

I'm thinking of a small beta release after the prison level is finished if its allowed and if anyone is interested

Cool! Any chance of getting some shadow on the floor from the vertical walls?

1013Games: Hmm, I'll have to look into that. It's not likely and I think I'm getting quite detailed for an RPG with only 3 months to produce XD I'm afraid it may cause some collision issues with MMF2 though since not non-obstacle backdrop over an obstacle backdrop makes the lower one a non-obstacle. The only way to overpass this is to switch to a custom movement system which would almost the double the time necessary to produce the game unfortunately

SpectreNectar: Thanks! I really wasn't sure what to put on that wall for decoration, it just looked rather plain so I knew I had to do something. It will of course be minorly interactable. I'm a little afraid people will not enjoy only being able to attack every 2 seconds and other parts of the battle system, which is why I want to get opinions from the beta. So I'll try to get it out in the next two weeks, finals are almost over and I want to have the first boss battle in the beta at least :D
