The iso thing essentially draws a cooridinate grid in such a way that it looks slightly 3D. I intend on making a game like final fantasy tactics. Other people have made some tactics type games/examples, but I don't know how to interpret thier code. But thier's all seemed to be top-down flat maps. As far as I can tell, I'm the first to make an engine with different heights, and I have got to be the first to make the map rotate, becuase not even the professionals who did Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Onimusha Tactics, and Tactics Ogre did that. (I did my research).
The most important thing I did was store all the data into a set of arrays. This made the editor pretty simple to make, and allows for easier tile identification. The biggest problem is that my code is highly inefficiant and confusing. I haven't had a lot of time to go back, clean it up, and comment it. I can see why you're confused, becuase so am I.And Crane, nice job with the spam, keep it coming.
