Geometry Wars GM

Hello. I'm new to 64digits, but been active on the GMC for a few months now. I've been using gamemaker for about 2 years now. My current project (which this blog will focus around for a while) is Geometry Wars GM. For those of you who haven't played Geometry wars on the Xbox 360 arcade, it's a fast paced frantic TDS restricted inside a relatively small box. All you do is fight off shapes (though the shapes get more elaborate and dangerous as you go). The game will be made with simple graphics, coupled with some hard programmed graphical effects. The biggest obstacle will be creating a graphical system that allows me to display multiple instances and effects at any given time. I will update this blog often with progress reports and screenshots, so check back often :)

Welcome, and good luck with your Geometry Wars clone. Technically, it's possible to imitate the grid effect, but that slows the game down a huge amount, so being simple is definitely more easier to work with.

Hello there!

First tip of advice: Run. Far away. Get away from here, or the HE will steal your soul and your sanity! But more importantly, the HE will steal eat your SAMMICHES!

Hmm… Use a verlet integration to hold the background fabric together. Also, anti-aliased lines will look 900 times better than aliased lines.
