Procrastination

Yup, it bites. Here I am, ten days away from competition deadline, and all I have to show for it is a sprite of a zombie, an intelligent looking man in a top hat (as we all know top hat=intelligence), and half of a crappy background that I started on today. Eh, I'll just turn it into a mini-game.

So I shifted my idea from zombie killing blood-fest, to a more original idea. Jeff the Friendly Zombie. Instead of playing as an armored, shotgun wielding zombie slayer, you will play as Jeff, a zombie who's only desire is for knowledge. As Jeff, you will start out as all the other zombies. A mindless, foot-dragging brain chewer. But after Jeff's first brain (which happens to be a man in a top hat), his IQ boosts a few points. Once this connection is made, Jeff desires more and more brains. Not for the sake of hunger, but a thirst for knowledge. As Jeff becomes more intelligent, he will become more and more like a regular human being. Correcting his dragging foot, speaking in full sentences instead of grunts and moans, and eventually wearing a stylish suit and eating his brains with fork and knife. Should be a fun game to work on.

Alright, now I ask for some help. I've decided I don't really HAVE to have sounds or music in my game so I'm fine with leaving it relatively silent. However, I need a background (something I've always sucked at). There only has to be one as it will be a relatively short game. So for all you spriters/pixelers out there who'd like to help me out, here's what I need:

Size: Minimum of 640x480 (any size bigger is more then welcome)

Background: I neighborhood-ish setting. Preferably a road towards the bottom with sidewalks on either side, and a couple houses in the background with small (or whatever size you wish) yards. Basically, make it as scary and dark as you want, without losing that whole "average neighborhood" theme (jack-o-lanterns and other halloween props are welcome :p )

Perspective: Not sure exactly what to call the perspective. Perhaps 3/4 view? Anyway, it resembles that of Castle Crashers on the 360 marketplace.

Colors: Dark colors (cause it'll be night time in the game).

Credit: The name you'd like to be credited for.

Here's a sprite of the main character style if you need something for inspiration :p

Well, I was thinking about taking part in the recent fad, but that ended up being way more content than I expected.

TopHat=High class

High class=Posh

Posh=Prejudiced

Prejudiced=Unintelligent

Therefore, you are quite wrong

darn although I've started I'm still cutting down tons of awesome stuff due to procrastination homework…just homework. Maybe if I didn't homework a lot I would have time to finish procrastination in time to work some more on my project.

@PY,

Actually, I think I got my calculations screwed. I believe it's 9 days….

@CoolGamrSms,

The downfall of many a developer.

@F1ak3r,

Yup, that's when this idea was spawned. Good times indeed.

@Serpy,

But serp, saying that TopHat=HighClass and HighClass=Posh and Posh=Prejudiced makes you Prejudiced towards TopHats and all variables that follow…yeah, I'll stop there :p

@Meow, I know! All that danged homework really gets to you after a while ;)

The only way to stop procrastination (procrastination, not homework), is to stab yourself in the eye with a white-hot spoon. Make sure it goes all the way in too, otherwise you'll just blind one eye and be in a lot of pain.

Trust me, it's 100% scientifically approved and tested.
