Yay for three day weekend!

I think it's funny to look at all the "awesome list" blogs. All of them are different (and biased) but there are a few users who's awesomness is so awesome that they find their way onto every list.

Anyway, I've been doing some research about the game industry as of late. Seeing as I've got a year of high school left before I go to college, I'm trying to figure out exactly how I wanna go about doing things. My plan has always been to major in computer programming, maybe take a couple classes in graphic design and other aspects of game design, and ultimately try and land a job in that field. Yeah, that's all fine and dandy until you actually find out what a pain it is. I've read more than enough stories of trying to "break into the industry"…and failing…to scare a person away from it. So there's the first concern. Being jobless for God knows how long doesn't really appeal to me. Then there's the whole money issue, which when you're trying to do something you really enjoy, I guess that's not AS big an issue. But it takes a while to get into a place where you're getting some decent cash (and that's if you can even make it that far). Eh, who cares. Don't really have to worry about for another few years so why fret now?

Anyway, I've been messing around with C++ quite a lot lately. Stuff actually makes sense now, so I figure it'd be best not to stop :p

Had a tiny problem grasping the whole concept of constructors and destructors, but after some searching and application I got those pretty much figured out. Next section in my book is about program flow. It's supposed to cover loops and deeply nested if statements. I expect to be intensely bored during this chapter, and probably skipping over stuff since I've already worked with loops just about every time I've ever sat down to start a project. Ah well, after that I get to do the first "big" project in the book. Something to do with setting up a program that takes some user input and does some operations with a rectangle. After I finish the book, I plan on downloading SDL and trying some graphics stuff. Maybe make a simple game. That's 15 chapters in the future though XD

Not much more to blog about. Crazy weather is making me sick (literally).

Until next time…

I suggest you do maths or a science and then take extra classes in computing. Employers want to see logical minds, not computer nerds.

Don't forget - the most important skill is communication. No matter what job, communication is key.

Have fun choosing your future career =D

Thanks Juju :D

Yeah, I think the math is definitely gonna be inevitable. I just hope I can keep up with it. Math isn't my strongest point…

@Pleth,

Have you gotten any better at keeping beat? …doubtful.
