Notes for Lunacy Star 2

Posted by Taizen Chisou on Jan. 20, 2012, 4:06 p.m.

First off, and this may be the most shocking: There are only two difficulties.

The "Original" mode will be piss-easy.

At least, I will find it so.

The "Arrange" / "Lunacy" mode will not be easy.

The scoring system will be based on a multiplier that you raise by collecting little orbs that the enemies drop and by collecting stars.

The multiplier stops at 99.99.

Charge accumulates automatically.

Spend charge to start Overdrive, in which grazing bullets produces multipliers and destroyed enemies drop Stars instead of Points.

Extends are based on score. First extend, 120,000,000, second extend, 800,000,000. And then it gets worse after that. On the bright side, scoring is inflated as fuck in this game.

(I'm capping scores at 21,000,000,000 however)

Dying halves charge and thirds your multiplier.

Stages are split up into substages.

There are five stages with bosses at the end- stages 1 through 4 have two sections and stages 5 and Extra have three.

Game Overing gives you a chance to start over at the beginning of the substage.

You will lose all your points however.

There will be no Spell Card System, instead with boss phase cycles.

The tradeoff is that if you complete the requirements for a Spell Card Capture (no miss, no bomb,) all deleted bullets produce stars.

Shot power will be in place. It is out of 100% and you amass more firepower every 25%.

Dying causes you to lose 25% power.

The bullets in this game will be more sparse, but will in general travel faster.

I'm aiming for about a 25 minute playtime (LS1 was around 32 minutes)

There will not be any extra amenities in the game other than the Extra Stage.

This includes the "stage practice" and "attack practice" and "replays" in Lunacy Star 1.

You get five bombs per life.

I'll add to this as I come up with more.

Suggestions? Yes please.

I really need to read more of these blogs of yours relating to LS.

Maybe even making videos of them. D:

I dont usually like bullet hells, but sometimes I try on them. One thing that bothers me though is not just dodging the bullets, its me thinking how the hell do i fit the ship through this mess!!

I know I post this everywhere, but bullet hells are just one big mind game. You exercise your brain by playing them!

And your ego!

By "piss easy," you mean moderately difficult for us normal people. xD

I play bullet hells sometimes, but I prefer stuff like Raiden or Gradius for my shmup fix.

I keep losing track of my player when playing bullet hells. :S

Try Cho Ren Sha 68k. It is. Amazing.

I suggest/demand you to add slow motion to Lunacy Star 2. Replace the player slow down button and make it the button for slow motion.

It's the perfect solution. It'll allow newer, less skilled players to play and enjoy themselves.

Kind of like ESPGaluda, where you can slow all of the projectiles on the screen?

Well, now is the perfect time for such suggestions, as I was set to actually begin work on it in a few weeks.

Now is planning!

@Dagger Heh, "less bullets," remember?

Meaning you can't really expect more than 70 or so bullets on the screen at once, as opposed to 700 for the first Lunacy Star.

@Pounce

Yes? I've set it to begin somewhere below LS1's "Calm" and end at around "Standard…"

Take it how you will…

@Alert Hitboxes. That is how :D

@Qwilder Videos… of blogs? :/

Are those… vlogs…. or…
