Toyosatomimi no Miko

Posted by Taizen Chisou on Feb. 3, 2012, 2:26 p.m.

I have probably never had so much rage at a Touhou game.

(Koishi Komeiji comes close.)

The main problem here is only getting six or seven lives to beat the game. Seriously. I've never 1CC'd a Normal Mode without losing at least six lives.

That's out of like 9 in Mountain of Faith, or 12 in Perfect Cherry Blossom, or 10 in Imperishable Night.

Yuyuko is easy. Kyouko is easy. Yoshika is easy. Seiga is ridiculously easy. Mononobe no Futo is hardly a threat.

But Miko is ridiculous.

I'm just ranting because this is my third time losing to her in a row ;-;

Her nonspells are harder than her spells, so why did I get hit on almost all of them?

I was probably freaking out or something, which is odd, considering I got to her on my first run of the game, rather than, say, third for PCB or fifteenth for Undefined Fantastic Object.

I lost to Halo of the Guze Kannon.

Do you know how sad that is?

Look at this shit:

That's not even that hard!

(And here's where Kilin chimes in with his "bullet hell is a mind game" speech.)

So do you see where I am going with this?

Lunacy Star Second will be full of glowing, fast moving, and large bullets!

I did just want to post something and correlate it to my game, but I /did/ lose to Miko and I /am/ rather upset about it.

Sorry people.

Go play Touhou! The lot of you!

I would play but it just doesnt look like my kind of game if it is bullet hell. look cool though and has some things that i would like to see in a game that I wanna start a collab on.

I know that a few people here really like this style of game though D:

Where do you play it at?

You legitimately obtain them for a little over seventeen dollars each.

Or download them, but that might be harder to do now that Megaupload's been nuked.

We should all collab on some mega super 64digits game.

And bullet hells are easier to make than SSBB clones, by the way ;)

Kilin's F4D game was probably the only bullet hell game that I've fully enjoyed playing so far.

That was the first time I've actually fully enjoyed playing a bullet hell without it starting to get on my nerves.

I think I'd enjoy Bullet Hells more if they were a bit more forgiving by giving you health instead of lives and their huds were much more simplistic and easier to understand like in Kilin's game.

Oh, I dunno. Lots of shmup purists loathe health bars.

As do I.

But I can understand where you're coming from, I guess.

Even if I hate it.

I already /said/ LS2 would be easier.

Don't worry. There will be lots of other anti-grievance measures as well.

It's definitely not a shield.

Variations on Eternal Meek? =<

TD is the one game I haven't played yet. I don't know why. Mostly because I thought the series went downhill at about 9, though Utsuho and Suwako are quite successful, and Sanae is a good girl.

But 12 practically ruined everything for me.

@JID:

:')

I'd like to think I'm good at making genre hybrids. And when catering toward casual players, I understand traditional bullet hell is the last thing some people want to see. While I had hoped to make it difficult, I also made it beatable (though there was a bug with boss regeneration that I thought I fixed, but if you went AFK, the boss could potentially regain all his health).

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I put a lot of heart into it and hoped the mechanics would be a little friendly to people who disliked the genre.

However, Purianite probably hates me for contaminating his bullet hell when catering towards casuals. =<
