There is now a new version 0.6.

It includes high score support, two new player shot types, faster loading time (audio is external now), as well as having a new main menu system.

Should I stick it into the 64d database now (seeing as it's a liiiiitle more complete) or should I wait until I actually finish it?

If you have to spell "little" with 5 I's, then I'd say you should probably wait a bit before adding it. It is coming along nicely though.

And I'm definitely not just posting so that you don't jump to the conclusion that no one cares.

But no one does :D

Every time I post something with content for people to enjoy, they all ignore it :V

Kilin tells me I update my shit too often.

I just think you drown your audience when you should focus more on obtaining that audience in the first place. As I said, graphics (embrace particles and a little blend mode whoring), music, and demo videos would go a long way.

It also doesn't help that this is bullet hell–a very niche genre in itself.

I stuck the soundtrack into the relevant blog with MP3 form and nothing happened :V

I post a video?

"How come there's no sound?"

I put together better graphics?

Ha, actually, there's no real chance of that happening.

See, this is kind of why I've gotten tired of pitching my input. I know you're frustrated about the whole thing, but really. You're asking 64Digits, the people who have recently fallen away from game design, and YYG, the worst community to get intelligent input from. You have to do a lot more than that, and quite frankly, I don't have the experience to give advice in that regard.

And note:

Out of 64Digits, quite a large site that has dropped in activity over the years, there are only three or five people who actually enjoy bullet hell. Two of those, Purianite and myself, are quite busy and don't have time to playtest every version that comes out.

Find a way to fix it. If you're really serious about this, at the very least, invest $10 in an audio cable.

Again from experience. The best games have the best graphics. The only notable exception I can think of is Sapphire Tears for very specific reasons. One, it's multiplayer. Two, it's an FPS, not bullet hell, and FPSs are much more widely recognized and accepted. Three, it's made by someone who already has a name. Four, the guy knows how to network. If you can't make yourself learn pixel art, try a new graphical style (please not the monochrome/retro style that's been done to death). That's where a lot of indie developers are going right now.

I've recently stopped posting devlogs and videos on Terminys, because I wait until I have something that I feel is really noteworthy. I make sure graphics are polished, music fits, the game is bug-free, and everything looks smooth and interesting.

You know how to make bullet hell very well and there's no doubt about that. But you'll need to appeal to a different audience if you want real results.

Man, I really can't keep giving advice. This is something you have to discover by yourself. This is why I've stopped commenting on Lunacy Star blogs, because there's not much more I can do to help.

@Kilin

Excellent, this is what I wanted.

I could contest every bit and piece of this post, but I won't. I just wanted to know why.

But I've said the same things over and over again and still I'm getting your frustration? I'm a devil's advocate, what I do has good intentions, even if it's not what you want to hear.

I'll just keep at making these games :V

People won't play them, but I still would. Partly because they're my own, of course.

Not everyone plays or enjoys it, but I'll get over it.

My other projects are exponentially more difficult to develop, but I'm suspecting about the same turnout of players and feedback as I'm getting now, despite the different genres.

Chaos Weapon hardly got any attention at all, 64d or elsewhere be damned.

Same goes with my metroidvania.

They'll be worked on as time goes on, no one will play them, and life continues. Right?

I guess what I'm getting at would be "boo hoo oh well"

And also, I don't understand the habit of "waiting until you have something notable."

If a is site as active as here then adding ten seconds to your game is news.
