The end result of what happens when I forget about how bad I usually am at spriting.
I've not researched color theory, proportions, shading, nothing (at least not applied to pixel graphics)I'd entertain with more, but I have to go to work soon and this image alone took me a good 90 minutes >_>;
It's got that "visual dissonance," a tell-tale sign of unskilled artwork. Plus, that character design; good god. This image would feel at home on DeviantArt. It's fine though, Tubes, you're a kickass coder.
My eyes have no clue where to go next, it's not very dynamic. I'd personally bring the sword around, have her hold it towards her left, and maybe do something with the left leg so more of it is visible. Also, with graphics this small, don't worry about shading, it just looks chaotic. It's good though, for someone who doesn't sprite.
If anyone bitches about graphics in a game in which I produced the graphics, I will fucking end them. :VI'll give this another shot when my mother decides to stop being an ass about the computer.

You can't clean a 8x5 mirror without leaving streaks?! No computer!
Sorry.I was trying to find a nice way of saying "I don't like it, but I like you, so that's something, right?"To be fair, there's no person who's good at something that didn't suck at some point.Practice makes perfect; you learn new things, and you get better at what you already know.Do try again, and again, and again, and again, and again…I should probably give some actual constructive criticism instead of just being the ass I regularly am.Your outlines are at a weird point in contrast where they aren't quite outlines, and not quite part of the sprite. I recommend using black outlines until you get a feel for how they should look.You should also work on your shapes, most of the attributes of this sprite look like formless blobs, vaguely resembling what they are meant to be. Your anatomy is fine, though.Your line work is dissonant. There's a lot of pointed outlines and unnatural-looking curves.And lastly, this sprite would benefit greatly from a new palette.I recommend looking up some pixel-art/spriting tutorials. You don't need to adhere to their styles or techniques, but they'll teach you some things that are good to know when doing low-res artwork.
Sword's a little…round, there, and that's a uniquely shaped shield, too.
This doesn't look too bad in my eyes, but then again I'm not a spriting pro either, so take from my comments what you will, for what they're worth.It's got that "visual dissonance," a tell-tale sign of unskilled artwork. Plus, that character design; good god. This image would feel at home on DeviantArt. It's fine though, Tubes, you're a kickass coder.
I wouldn't say flawless.
90 minutes is a bit much, but I like it.
Kinda reminds me of my style, which is scary.Very nice.
Looks very Taizen.My eyes have no clue where to go next, it's not very dynamic. Then it's agreed.
If anyone bitches about graphics in a game in which I produced the graphics, I will fucking end them. :VI'll give this another shot when my mother decides to stop being an ass about the computer.It's sad, I know, because I've cleaned all the 6x4 mirrors pretty flawlessly before.
I agree with what Panzer said. =D
