oh lord I should stop before this becomes an actual game
Anyway, have a video of the last downloadable if you didn't play it: Why didn't you play it, anyway? Here!Edit: Boss video. Anyway, this will be some really linear thing where you go from one level to the next, each marked with a generic name going from Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, all the way to the Denary sector of your nameless soundless faceless ideal-less protagonist's subconscious. Why subconscious? Why not? It gives me a chance to try to instill emotion in my players through the story, and if not sadness, then narm works too.Anyway, I've removed the 999-attack-power boulder that falls on you and expanded the list of things you're allowed to do. Running faster is among them. What happens if you jump while performing a dash? You do a vault forward with your sword. You need to do this to make far jumps too, even if your regular jump is shorter by only a bit.Something else that is new is also the addition of aerial attacking. This picture isn't the best, but pictures can't capture a still of a spinning motion very well, can they?I'm also gonna work on the boss, I guess.my spriting is so bitchin' awesome oh lordOn the music front, I'm resorting to reusing a lot of old tracks. Again. But at least 60% will be original! (You know, just like with both Lunacy Stars.)http://soundcloud.com/taizenchisou/sets/dungeon-quest-manI'm gonna work on implementing this boss as well as a menu screen.……I was gonna have more content than this, but that didn't work out.Edit:Guys, check out what I figured out how to do.

I went and finished the first level, I guess. Tell me if the boss is too hard, I think it might be :<Still dunno if I'll end up doing the rest of the game, but it's a nice thought :VUpdated the main post a little with something that I finally got working.
looks okay, but the jumping looks a bit floaty in the video, and you should probably add smoother movement for the player.
actually, i think you should make everything look and feel smooth in the game. I think that'd really work for it.Also, make smooth animations. smooth smooth smooth.
It would be easier if I were so able, but that is not the case, I apologize.I fucking love clunky controlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand boss video.
Okay, fine, I'll check out your demo so your comments don't look so lonely.
Edit: Needs a save point before the boss, dying and having to replay he whole level is frustrating. Other than that, pretty cool. The text looks way too small for a message box this big. Also, either the top/down collisions or the camera movements that follow them are clunky.Eh? This has always happened to me… You get used to it after a while…
I'm currently starting on the Secondary Sector, which will take a bit, so I won't be going off posting more updates for the next few whenevers…Dammit, I keep forgetting to play this version.
The boss didn't bother me too much, but the battle does start a bit abruptly for my tastes. Also, I love the atmosphere in this game but I keep assuming I'm in outer space.
