no more spriting ever

because perhaps it is a bit much to spend an hour and a half on one still image

Pictured: Taizen Chisou, the character

I'm gonna stick to black-and-white wireframe doodles for everything I make until I can be assed to ask someone to make everything for me.

Start small.

If you go ahead and do a large dimension sprite, only to realise you're horrible at it, then go back to basics. Work on a 8x8 or 16x16 tiles and sprites first, and then move up.

The first frame always takes the longest. The important thing is not to give up.

As for critique, The feet are a little blocky and too vaguely outlined compared to the rest of the sprite.

The shading on the legs seems a bit odd too, but I like the upper body.

I spent a long 2 hours spriting an enemy which I'll probably scrap from my game. Spriting takes a long time and if you're like me I'll take even longer because you'll keep going back and making little edits ._.

Pretty cool sprite though!

One thing you may want to try is to expand your canvas size and then shrink the sprite after you're done if that makes getting detail any easier.

Yeah I should probably work on Oakfalls sprites…

…But Guildwars 2…

@SMP I have a hard time not cluttering small sprites with frivolous details and other such crap.

@Rolf Admittedly, I was rushing by the time I hit the feet. As for the black/light-gray thing, that's the design on the pants, a lighter color on the outside sides and darker inside.

@ Maderick Thanks~!

@Juurian That would probably just lead to a lot of cleaning up to do ._.

@Charlie Whenever you get on that is fine~

It just be my eyes playing tricks on me but it kind of looks as if his arms are wider than his waist o_0 I'm going to assume that's the style though. Still looks great though!

Blame my shading!

Thanks though. My style also usually includes ridiculously baggy sleeves. Don't ask me why : I

At least your style doesn't make your characters' heads abnormally large, like mine does.

it's not that bad. a few things on the face could be fixed up and maybe the lower half of the body but it's pretty good. it takes me a long ass time to do larger images as well and animating? i'm not that far yet xD but i don't give up and neither should you :P
