no more spriting ever

because perhaps it is a bit much to spend an hour and a half on one still image

Oh please. Using Game Maker makes you look like a noob. Something as trivial as sprite and window sizes doesn't even compare. Like Toast said (or maybe he didn't), I think you're being egotistical. Again.

My sprite size is usually 48x64 or 64x96. Enough for detail but often difficult to animate. I'd still prefer animating a bigger sprite as opposed to my smaller 16x24 sprites (I do this ratio for the same reason as Yaru–big heads). For my S4D entry, I'm probably going to do 8-frame 64x96. This might be a bitch. But a fun bitch. I'm trembling already.

As for screen resolutions, you gear it toward the fucking game. If the default resolution is best for the game, who cares? It's default because it's the most compatible with all monitor sizes (some people still live in the 90s, believe it or not), though I personally prefer 800x600, or in one case, 480x360. There's nothing wrong with default as long as you're consistent.

If you're making games in fear of what others will think about you, then this isn't your field.

I'm so pro I make games at 641x481.

And my sprites are 59x73.

I find it's easier because 59 and 73 are divisible in so many different ways.
