Vocal Purgatory

*cough*

*hack*

*wheeze*

*extra line to push that expletive off the front page*

Damned parents, sick days exist.

Oh well. I'm effectively taking today off from school, at school.

Well, I took YESTERDAY off anyway.

I'm hacking together voice recordings (heheh) for my video game, the one that exists, and holy butts is this fucking ridiculous. I've compiled about 100 recordings now, out of the 240 I've received, out of the 700-ish total that will be in the game. I've fallen behind, and so have my voice actors.

Such seems to be the way of the indie developer, everything's late.

I'm considering opening a donations channel, but 1) nobody knows who I am, and 2) the people that do probably won't be throwing anything my way.

Which, I suppose, makes sense, given nobody plays RPGs anymore, and on the computer, no less!

*scratch scratch*

My throat's been bothering me. It's making my game engine recording demonstrations a chore to record.

Speaking of the game, it's now horrible bullshit.

I stole the sprite from Charlie's Credence Filter because there's not much sense in bugging him for enemy sprites when he's knee-deep in Other Things.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I need to return to listening to such magestical voice recordings as these.

I'm probably crazy for asking, but is there anything in your system that couldn't be found/scripted into RPGMaker?

Just curious.

Hmmm, probably not, actually. All the mainstays would make for a relatively easy conversion to RPG Maker, methinks. It's mostly a matter of "fuck you, I do what I want."

I'll be honest. When I found out Persona 3 was turn-based, I was a bit turned off of it. But I don't think the RPG genre is dead at all. I just haven't seen a whole lot of turn-based RPGs. Persona and Fire Emblem, if you count TBS, are about all I can think of.

Oh, and Mother.

Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga

Ah, I love Superstar Saga!

But I fucking hate the final boss. I'm not grinding all the way to level 40 just so she can't two-shot me. Bitch takes six actions per turn!

It's a lot shorter than I remember, too, I'm at the final door in 13 and a half hours or so.

If I recall, I beat the final boss just fine at level 39 or so. Was a great game that I revisited during that one blizzard we had up here. I ended up spending a lot of time beating every level of the Border Jump.

I'm level 36 :I

I keep myself underleveled in Mario RPGs to offset the general easiness.

Like in Super Mario RPG. I beat Smithy on my first run at level 18 :D

No rock candy, no Lazy Shell, nada :P

I'm pretty arse at dodging though.

Did you know that the arm swing attack decreases your defense? And that subsequent hits can deal like, 40 damage? They can, and Mario's HP is out of 75 >:I

I beat Superstar Saga at level 34. :T

My dodging's pretty good, plus I overstocked on items. You can't have too many nuts and peppers.

It's a good thing I gave Mario and Luigi's HP and defense bonus boosts whenever they levelled up. I love me some damage sponges. The Starbeans Cafe blends helped me keep their other stats well rounded too.

Shame I lost my copy a few years ago. I'd love to pick that game up again.
