Over at some pixel art forums I go to, I sent the current build of Twinsen to another member who was pretty critical of the controls from the first demo.

He's quite happy, he thinks it's a great improvement over the first demo, I'm glad other people can confirm this, especially from someone who was as I said, pretty critical of the first demo.

And honestly, I'm pretty ashamed of the first demo now.

When people are interested and ask if we have a demo they could try, part of me just wants to say no, and just have them wait till this one is ready.

Still, he had a lot of advice to offer, and all of it is very warranted, most of it I do want and plan on changing.

But some issues; I intend to wait for feedback to see if it is a major issue.

Other than that, yeah, nothing really, just been playing Super Metroid Redesign.

I actually visited the IRC #SMR channel to make sure I didn't sequence break and trap myself.

Drewseph (the creator of Super Metroid Redesign) is a regular there, so he helped me out with some cryptic clues while some other members just flat out told me what I needed to do.

Super Metroid Redesign is a tough beast.

Now that I've really gotten into it, I want to recommend it to everyone, it's a pretty epic and rewarding game, perhaps even more so than the original.

But on the other hand, I remember when I first tried it, it was just punishing, I couldn't get the hand of wall jump, I couldn't believe how many hits enemies took, how fast they moved, how quickly Samus descended.

But now, it all feels perfectly normal.

So, I would recommend trying the romhack out, but only to those who have at least finished the original Super Metroid.

It would probably help if you hadn't played it for a while, so adjusting to the new physics will be easier.

Oh, and save states is a must, I have save and load states mapped to L2 and R2.

There's no shame in it for this game, some of it has very very little room for error.

BYAAH!

I wasn't either too fond of the controls in the first demo, but I trust that with this member's approval, it has improved significally.

I have myself never played Super Metroid Redesign (neither the original >_>… sue me). The series never really appealed to me, except GBA ones. Dunno why.
