Well today, my mom had the great idea of working our horses. Well, not really working them, more like some basic handling. Anyway, the first horse we tried wasn't having any part of it. I had to hold her with a lead rope while my mom tried to clean her hooves. Guess she considered it life-threatening, so she started kicking at us. She tried to whack me with her front foot but missed; nevertheless you can never let a horse get away with that kind of behavior so I gave her a quick whack with a rider's crop. Got her straightened out.

Contestant number 2, Moon, is also our newest addition. She was much more well behaved, although she did have a bit of a problem with her back feet being done. We think, due to the scars on her legs, that her previous owners beat her pretty badly :(

And finally, the best part, our youngest horse, Zoe. She's pretty small compared to the others, but that's deceiving. She was the biggest pain in the ass to hold down. After several tries to calm her, she actually had the nerve to kick my mom. Yep. I even heard her hoof make contact with my mom's ribs. Like I said earlier, you can never let a horse get away with bad behavior, so I retaliated with a swift kick to her own ribs. She kept on fighting, and so did I. In the end, she ended up getting kicked, elbowed, punched, and smacked several times. She got Pwn'd. That's what she gets for kicking my mom and biting my hand. I also had a couple bruises on my feet from them getting stepped on. You'd be amazed how much it hurts to have a 1,000+ pound animal step on your toes.

NOTE: please don't get any crazy ideas like I abuse my horses, I only physically punish them when they do damage to me, and it's the only way they will learn that kind of behavior is unnacceptable.
