This is an idea that I had last night, and have put into affect today. Here's the description i wrote for the site:
"The world is full of interesting people, but finding them isn't always the easiest thing. The internet has has made this task much easier, but there are still plenty of undocumented people in this world whose stories I'd like to uncover. Recently sites like Omegle have become popular, a chat service that randomly matches you with a stranger to talk to. Although there are a fair amount of immature people on these types of sites, I'm sure that there are some people who use these sites whose stories are worth recounting.I'm going to start every conversation with "What's your story? What makes you interesting?", or some similar variation. I plan on posting any interesting conversation I have here."Tumblr: http://isproject.tumblr.comTwitter: http://twitter.com/intstrangerprojThis is something I plan to update fairly regularly in my free time. If this idea interests you, please follow and spread the word. The two conversations I have posted are not the greatest, but are more of a sample of how I kind of want things to go.
Everyone has an interesting story about themselves. This also, paradoxically, makes everyone boring.
This isn't to say I don't want to see this developed. A good idea and, with some hard work, will bear fruit. Expand to chatroulette, maybe get a team together to search out some blogs. That certainly sounds intriguing. Good luck!
Interesting, I do agree that you can find some interesting people on the internet but they can be pretty hard to find so this is a pretty cool concept.
I for one think 64D has some of the most intriguing people I have ever met.@Ferret Yeah, it's a lot of sifting though idiots lol
@Juju Chatroulette is tough because a lot of people just disconnect when they find out that I'm a guy, that said I'm still trying. Also, although right now all I have up is the "random conversations", I fully plan on finding interesting blogs, and instead of having a free form conversation with the creator, I'd rather do a small interview.Clearly. Once this gains momentum, people will recognise you. This, incidentally, is a similar initiative to www.someoneoncetoldme.com
Why not interview us? We're interesting people, right?
I think people need anonymity to be entirely truthful. 64D isn't particularly anonymous.
Can we submit conversations?
I think that is an awesome idea!
Have you developed the site yet? If not, maybe I could help out, and you can do all the conversation-gathering legwork. =PStranger Danger!
