Donations by:

twisterghost ($300 Prize Money), Tim ($100 Prize Money), SpectreNectar ($100 Prize Money), DanRedux ($50 Prize Money), firestormx ($40 Steam games, bugfix/feature prize), RC (games featured on YoYo Games), valkyriegames (Renegade Ops)

Remember, this is a communal effort! This competition is only for fun. If you want prizes, give as you wish to receive. Suggested donations would be Steam games, Amazon vouchers or something similar, rather than cash.

Futher notice - please mind that donated prizes are subject to donators following up their promises, and that the distribution of prizes among 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th may change at any time.

Further further notice - monetary transactions often involve charges. I will not be paying for these charges, so unless the donators opt to pay the charges, if you win you may end up with slightly less prize money than is actually sent to you.

Although it sucks not being in the top 5, I can still hope for my favorite game to win (Go Kilin). And I suppose I can update my game now, since it doesn't matter, right?

Toast 12 years, 3 months ago

Because otherwise we'd probably end up with about 10 votes, which would be an utterly unreliable sample size.

It was the only way I could think of to ensure we had at least as many votes as entries.

Polystyrene Man 12 years, 3 months ago

Whoa, what really? I guess I didn't read the rules too closely because I wasn't aware of this. I was literally unable to play any of the entries. I probably would have raised issue with the rule had I known earlier. I don't want to take any of the nominations off the list, but this kind of sucks for me because I put a shitload of work into my game and apparently it was never going to place from the start.

JuurianChi 12 years, 3 months ago

Jeez, that sucks.

I kinda wanted Sleep Season to win.

Rez 12 years, 3 months ago

I think given the circumstances, we could have a 6th spot. It's really all up to Toast though.

Castypher 12 years, 3 months ago

I was all up for Sleep Season. I'll even supply a Steam prize if Polyman plays/can play Steam games, heh.

Iasper 12 years, 3 months ago

I understand both Toast and Polystyrene Man. It's pretty obvious that you want as many votes as possible, and adding a rule to force voting is a good solution. I think most people vote for games entered in a competition they entered as well anyway. However, because Polystyrene Man did want to play and vote, he couldn't because he owned a Mac and the games wouldn't work. I'm pretty sure that if he had a pc he would've voted. I agree with Rez though, a sixth place would be nice.

kfharlock 12 years, 3 months ago

Just chiming in that it wouldn't bother me at all to let Polyman into a sixth slot either; I liked Sleep Season!

Toast 12 years, 3 months ago

Offering a 6th place would still be unfair to the other competitors who went to the trouble of following the rules.

There is also the slight technicality of Polystyrene Man getting more votes simply BECAUSE he didn't vote, which is something nobody has taken into account. In other words, if Polystyrene Man actually had voted, he might not have been nominated anyway, because the votes were so close.

Apologies if the rule was not clear enough. This competition has already been a ridiculously huge time investment and I've stopped double-checking that everything is crystal clear.

As I've already said, rules are rules, no exceptions, even if the rules are flawed. All we can do is make sure it doesn't happen next time. Do feel free to offer additional prizes as you see fit.

Nehemek 12 years, 3 months ago

Wow I am in top 5 :D

Congratulations to the other developers too, and those that couldn't make I wish good luck in next competition.
