Hired by my college!

I know, it sounds weird, well, yea, it's true, I have been hired by somewhere I go to learn. I guess I better explain how it started;

Well, first I heard my tutor going on about the fact that they have no Internal Instant Messenger for the college, that just made me laugh, but then I realised, 'Hey, if I make one, I'll be able to talk to my friends who are in other classes, and 'snoop' on teachers if I really wanted to'. So I went up and said, 'Why don't you just download 'MSN' or 'YIM'?' And she said that their system blocks installers unless verified by some company that pay for the computers. So I said that I could probably make an instant messenger that doesn't need an installer, and she, said, 'Yea right.' So I mentioned that it is possible in Game Maker, and she said, 'Well, if you do this, you don't have to do essential skills this year' (Maths and English) So I am now currently working on an Instant Messenger with 'mplay'. And so far, it's going pretty well.

But unfortunately I am not getting payed for making this, but I do get to skip Essential Skills!!! And that makes me happy!

^And that's my blog ;)^

Peace!

Mplay? I would use SOC or 39dll (or however it is called).Considering it is a college, and depending on how you code it, mplay could not be able to handle all that traffic without lag.

Mplay… lulz.

Don't do it in Game Maker, do it in C++ or VB or something.

If you do it in game Maker don't use Mplay……!!! Use something like 39dll, as said your have a laggy program without alot of kids on at once.

Also i know this probably sucks but you will want to add some functions your teachers would want like kick features for admins and such.

However you will know how it works :P, just make the teachers happy.

39dll is what you want,I didn't even look at mplay because it just doesn't seem right to me

GM should have dlls and scripts imported for more things…that'd make the runner capable of being smaller in the end

Not sure about lag though,but less stuff in the runner and all could prolly make it faster

right, well, i tried downloading 38dll.dll, but bandwidth is exceeded, so i guess i gotta wait. I downloaded SOC and me and my friend tested it on different computers, trying to connect with eachother, but it didn't work, i just used the examples in the examples folder. And I now agree with you, mplay is going to lag alot, especially if there is going to be many people on it at once. If anyone could help with this, it'd be greatly appreciated, especially since this is my first time attempting online with dll's.
