Shattered World progress (screenshots!)

OK, so with the help of my best friend Simaster, I've decided on a title for my game: Shattered World: Beneath A Stone Sky. I'm not gonna spoil too much, but the main premise is that the world consists of lots of floating islands (in mid-air) and nobody has invented flying so there's no way to travel around the world.

Then I'm gonna use some Great Wall Of China-inspired stuff about the world is split up by a great wall, on one side lives the barbarians and on the other side the civilized world. But of course it's not that easy really because there are good barbarians and evil 'civilized' people, so after you've set out on your quest you'll run into moral choices and tear-jerker moments and all that kinda stuff you'd expect a jRPG to have.

…but thus far, I've half-finished the engine. Some screenies:

Finally finished up the Dispatch system. Basically you have "entry" panels you can use to place your party members in the battlefield. You're also gonna be able to let them escape by walking into one of those.

Also started to work on the world map; basically, you use this to walk around between "hub" areas; hub areas are e.g. the entrance of dungeons. In most hubs there are a savepoint, and you'll also find shops and area menus in them. Sort of like the Disgaea Devil's Castle area, except you aren't in the same dull area for the entire game.

So your world is Westeros IN THE AIIIIR?

Should be interesting.

Yeah, sorta. The most modern RPG game I've played apart from Disgaea DS is Fire Emblem 4: Genealogy Of The Holy War (published in 1994, I think) so I'm not really up to date with what all those words are named.

Oh, and I only do jRPGs so if it's D&D/Baldur's Gate/Neverwinter/Diablo related I have no clues about it.

Groovy

Looks cool, but I don't think the isometric perspective reflects the "floating" aspect very well.
