8 Months Later...

Sooooo…. sup. Miss me? Yeah, didn't think so.

While I'm sure given a giant absence one of two conclusions regarding the status of the RPG engine has been reached, I'm here to say that it's not finished, and it's not abandoned. But it almost was.

Considering the length of time I've spent on the engine and such, it's kind of been the plan since early on to make it commercial quality, and while the initial game wouldn't be anything short of free, the second one, Darkness Rising, was always meant to be something I could sell with a straight face. GM6 not working with Vista, and 7 having added a licensing fee to the works (Yoyo's got some serious balls changing the rules seeing how little they've added to GM itself. I've been out of the loop, has this big mega awesome company even pooped out information regarding a 7.1 yet?), those things led to me looking into XNA and a couple other things, and then my video card exploded and took the motherboard with it. Oodles of fun.

Anyways, while I tinkered with other things with relatively minor to no success, I put a bit more emphasis on the printed projects (HPOrigins, which is basically telling the rough story of DR, among other things), and when the computer exploded I learned how Manga Studio 3, my tablet, and Windows Vista all hate each other while I was confined to the family desktop. That said, I started playing with Painter, and doing the HP comics in that, so anyone interested at all should feel free to check that out at the new site. There's a link up top titled Games that outlines my general plan regarding the RP engine. That said, I have one solitary announcement to make about that that's not another submenu chunk finished or more reworking the backend to make things smoother in a way nobody will ever know about.

Ready? Big 8 month absence? Giant announcement.

I got NPCs working last night.

I know, exciting right? Totally worth the wait, right? give me another year and maybe I'll finish a third sprite! Then the NPCs could even look like two different people instead of J'Aime and her apparently evil clone. Seriously I'm like the slowest guy in the world when it comes to buckling down and spriting. ): A Clan wanted me to do that for them once, and now i have someone else wanting me to. It's pretty funny, people see the neat stuff I do, and they're like "I need like 60 more things like this" and I go "Duuuurrrr…" They're silly. Moving on.

Seriously, tho, I hope to get back around 64D a bit and maybe even occasionally have an update on the RPG Engine you guys might care about. Something like the battle system working. But then, I point at my spriting habits again, and we all have a good laugh.

Yay wall of text!

EDIT: You can tell I've been gone because I'm trying to fight with things again remembering if the blogs take BBCode or HTML. I dream of preview buttons~

Uh … are you talking about this?

the versions of the Software described as "Pro" for personal, non-commercial and commercial use provided you have paid the applicable licence fee

That's the $20 you pay for Pro.

You say 8 months, but I must admit I can recall naught about you, save for your avatar.

Sorry :(

I have some of the most bizarre ways of being remembered. I love it. <3

@ Nailog: If that's the case then huzzah! Their wording sucks. But if it's just the fee for getting it up to Pro, I'm… well, I'm fine with that. o3o
