Seemingly Mandatory RPG4D blog

Everybody's doing it, so I will too.

Team wise, I'll be programming, LAR Games is going to do graphics, and Spirulence was forced volunteered to be our music guy. We're going to be making a platform shooter in a futuristic setting, with RPG elements so that it qualifies for the competition.

The main storyline is that there are two neighbouring, yet to be named countries with a very fragile peace between them. The governments of both countries are focusing on avoiding a war and at the same time preparing for one should it happen. As such, they have been neglecting the general populace and criminal activity has been on the rise.

So, a group of combat capable citizens gather together to form a sort of vigilante police force. Over time, their purpose evolves and at this point I stop talking because spoliers.

You make the theme RPGs and somehow they still find a way

[quote=Toast's Blog]4. Your final game MUST have "RPG elements", specifically relating to the gameplay (eg anything such as experience points, inventories, quests, turn-based combat, etc. Fantasy themes and long storylines are common in RPGs, but not related to the gameplay).

It's going to have quests and an inventory. And maybe a way to level up. Besides, it would be boring if all the entries played exactly the same aside from some of the finer points.

Yes I know what my rules are…

It's just that this competition was a direct response to there being so many platform shooters and futuristic settings. Tis ironic is all.
