Arcalyth Blogs Again!

I should have replaced "Arcalyth Blogs Again!" with "[a2h] meh" or "[a2h] another blog…".

Eh, Arc's 12th blog? xD

Anyway, I dunno why everyone's doing this but it seems fun.

v3

I want GM7z integration done =D J@D's masterpiece is kewl.

64d En Flashe

No idea what that is. I don't care what it is, either.

Sapphire Tears

My score didn't get restored from the backup even though JakeX said he did.

Music

I listen to a wide variety of music, actually I don't. I listen to rock and occasionally dance (The Others TV Rock mix, anyone?)

I'm hungry

OK, I'm not, but I suppose Arc is…

End of Blog

WAIT NO ITS NOT THE END YET.

I want to say some moar.

Who here uses Safari on Windows? I've mentioned this earlier but meh. It's just stupid seeing how Apple would do this. Well to some people it would seem stupid, I mean - what I mostly hate about it is that its stupid usage of fonts. It attempts to replicate the original Safari so much it even uses Luicidia Grande (which sucks).

And many sites are buggy too. Eh, WebKit (which powers Safari), was based of KHTML, which was for KDE. Oh how sad, Linux stuff gets eventually indirectly ported to Windows in the most disrespectful way ever.

Now then. Halo 2 for PC. Halo 2 for PC = WTF BBQ. Why? Well just because it's DX10 doesn't mean it's good. I mean, just like Halo 1 for PC, its delayed by a huge 2 freaking years. I mean, that's just horribly long. Plus, the textures are still as crappy as ever. See, on the TV, the resolutions are mostly lower, therefore meaning people can get away with worse textures. Play it on a PC at 1280x1024 and whoo… stretching all the way (not that I have played it, but anyway…)

Great and popular GM games. What defines, a good GM game. The rate of games being released on the GMC is so fast, that most of the games are pretty poor, although you must admit its usually the best work the creators can do - they're avid people, they either want to become a game maker (no pun intended) one day, or they want to be a hobbyist developer. This then cancels out the possibility of a unique game. What most people do, is just make more Mario games or stuff like that, but there are still people seeking to make unique games. Then, coming back to the rate, it obviously gives you less and less chances of getting something good done. In fact none of my projects on the GMC have ever surpassed one page. Yes, 1 page. 0+1=1. Maybe it's because I don't advertise them well, but meh.

Think about it. Look in the GMC. Around what percent of the topic icons in the WIP/Creations forum are red? Just goes to show that Game Maker developers need to further up and up their standards, otherwise you may even make something awesome and people ignore it. Compare Shaltif's SXMS with my music player. Do both look nice? Of course!

But it's a matter of this: How would you make a game? How would you make it popular?

If you want it to be popular, aim for that. The GMC is not your only option - sites like this showcase new stuff on the frontpage for at least 24 hours. If you have a website, post your game on it. Digg it. Or whatever.

It just boils down to my main point, which would apply to a lot of other stuff: Life is tough. Get over it.

Maybe that's mean, but I'm sure you've seen those people on the GMC complaining about nobody replying.

Anyway, I'll now leave you with an image.

Madness? But this isn't Sparta!

-a2h out!
Thou musteth listen to British punk!
Awesome Songthou must listen to the jelly song:
http://www.rathergood.com/jelly/It's hilarious how people actually thinks that their games are really good and post them on GMC. Then don't understand why they don't get any comments.
