(haha pun not intended)
…how now that I actually understand game maker on some level, I can't make a f*****g platformer engine. I did all of this weird crap before, but I can't seem to figure it out.SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITakie mushrooms.….and not a single curse was said in this blog.Anyway in other news things are going slow with Deep Freeze. Motivation is scarce but I'm working on it…. and a way that we might get some extra help for it…I also got this: http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/thinkpad/Pressure sensitive stylus + Capacitive screen. Absolutely beautiful. Not the most powerful, but it's one of the Tegra 2 tablets, and it's good enough for what I use on it. I'll upload some stuff I've done on Sketchbook Pro.A biiiiiit disappointed in the quality of the pen though. If I remember correctly, I was told that it pretty much has a whopping… 4 levels of pressure sensitivity. Not 256 like the old Graphire (you know, the cheap, hobbyist line before bamboo came out which I think bumped the minimum level to 512), but just four. One, two, three and four. Fewer levels than the fingers on my hand. ….You get my point. It makes things bit difficult but still, it works, so I won't complain TOO much. However, I hope that some developers support THIS for android… perhaps another art program: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jonatherton/jaja-worlds-first-pressure-sensitive-stylus-for-ip as I'd definitely buy it when it comes out… I only wish I could fund it.Aside from that, a brief review for Sketchbook Pro:It's awesome, sexy, and one of few well known names that seems to support pressure sensntivity. The UI is pretty nicely done, and USUALLY ends up being out of the way. Allowing customized placement would be cool, and an easier placement of the color picker would be nice, but it's not a must. I found myself drawing when I wanted to draw, rather than fighting against the UI so I'm happy. However, there are a few issues. Image sizes are fixed - the size of the tablet screen. Images that are imported are rotated and partly scaled, and will be cropped if it isn't the right proportion. It's a bit depressing that such an "advanced" image program has that issue, and I'd like to know why that's like that. Is it too powerful to add that feature? Would it cause several problems? A few tools, as mentioned are a bit out of the way. The brush selection is cool. Perhaps support for additional brushes might be nice. Better palm rejection technology would be nice, as well, though I'm working around it now so I'm not too worried.
There are some great platform engines floating around. No need to reinvent the wheel. Just download one and edit it to fit your game.
But it is nice to use somthing you made
I'm looking to POSSIBLY sell the version of the game I make in GML. If you know any engine that allows me to utilize it for commercial products, then that's good. Otherwise I'd have to see how much it'll cost. I could always prototype the game in GM though and hunt down some willing programmers for other languages..
IIRC Graphire had 256 levels… at least the old one I had.I could have swore there was one that had 256. Maybe an earlier one? Or I'm just being retarded right now. Probably the latter.
Thinking now, yeah… I'm pretty sure it was actually 512. I'm thinking about the box it came in and.. yeah. lolhttp://www.wacom.com/en/Products/Intuos/Intuos4Small.aspx
Got it on amazon for like $180. It says it comes with free software and stuff, but none of it counts anymore. Apparently you used to get a free 2 year cafepress proshop and creative suites. Now, when you try to redeem it, it pretty much just links you to free stuff. But I am highly satisfied with what I got for the price. :DEdit: Posted wrong thing/info first time lol.
