First off, I finally got around to working on a new site after losing tinydinosaur and rbrw. You can check it out at beam.co.nr. Keep in mind that it is nowhere near finished, I still haven't uploaded my projects, scripts, games, demos, writings, and everything else that never even got added to tinydinosaur.

1DRL

As outlined in my earlier posts, I've been planning and preparing to make a roguelike in a single day. My endeavor is an even more extreme version of the already extreme idea of a 7-Day Roguelike, or 7DRL. A lot of cool games have come from 7DRL, like DiabloRL, The Sewer Massacre, and Paprika. In fact, another 7DRL is coming up soon that I will probably enter. For more info, check out the article on RogueBasin.

Anyway, I think I've got it all laid out. It's going to be set in modern times, in some sewer/pipe system. Your only weapons will be the gun you start with (limited ammo), and things you pick up off the floor. Lengths of pipe, rocks, scrap metal. Stuff like that. Enemies are probably going to be rats, alligators, bats, snakes, and other creepy crawlies. I did end up coming up with the random dungeon holy grail, by the way. It's an extremely simple recursive function based on the Random Walk, a very useful general concept.
