Tarnish and Relief

I want to clean up my tarnished reputation from my last blog: No, I do not visit the GMC during school. My dad is a teacher, and so I am at school for a few hours after it lets out. That is when I do most of my programming.

About a week ago I tried to install Thunderbird on my Dad's aged Windows 98 computer so he wouldn't have to deal with all the spam, but then I got the scare of my short IT computing career. I installed a skin and Thunderbird promptly crashed. I restarted it and all the messages were gone. Totally. I tried deleting the msf files and they didn't regenerate. Then the Recycle Bin suddenly acquired an interesting trait. If I deleted a file, it wouldn't appear. Instead, a file appeared that I deleted about 10 deletes ago, as if the Bin were lagging.

Well, long story short, I was bad scared, as I had to get the mail back. (New messages had been downloaded, so I couldn't just restore from OE). After using a plethora of tools, tweaks and prayers, I finally got everything back to normal. So we all lived happily ever after, except me after school.
