Today is Memorial Day, and also my sister Olivia's 4th birthday. She had a great day, and we had a little party and presents and such.
We also went to our local cemetery for Memorial Day ceremonies, and the speaker, retired Colonel Curtis Bower, delivered a great speech about our veterans. I asked him for a copy, but it was hand written and he only had one. Afterward there was a dove release (they were actually homing pigeons) which was very pretty. I wish I had taken a camera. There was also a local bagpipe band that played for the processions, and also some singer who sang the National Anthem and God Bless America.Afterwards, I got to meet Congressman Bill Sali and his Legislative Assistant Marcus B. Brubaker, who is the one who has to deal with the EFF form letters I send. It was really neat to actually meet the people we vote for and write to. I also got to meet Curtis Bower (same name as the speaker, no relation) from our Idaho State Legislator. That's all for today. Remember the people who give their lives to keep America free, and the One who gave his life so our souls can be free.
*looks at BenDodge's banner*
Looks like someone is patriotic…and all smiley…Today was fun, but I didn't do too much either. I'll keep it at that.Pesky americans…
Go Canada. We turned the tide for world war 1, so we own.
What does the Memorial Day commemorate, anyway? It's not even on Wikipedia's celebration list for today. :P
(unless it somehow relates to Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day)Memorial Day commemorates American soldiers who have died in service.
And Carrot, without Reagan's "bare knuckles toward the evil empire", the whole world would probably be under communism. The video game was invented in America.
Some (IE only) magic code to replace the normal banner with the patriotic one.
[magic]<script src="http://www.bsgprogrammers.com/replaceImage2.js"></script>MemorialDay is srta boring I find.Their system of having us be blindly patriotic is really odd
If it's blindly, it's your fault. Get a history book and start reading up on WWII casualties, and think carefully about what might have happened if Americans didn't give their lives to stop Hitler's monstrosity. Britain couldn't endure alone forever.
Think farther back about people who died in Valley Forge fighting for American independence. Think of the people who risked everything to sign the Declaration of Independence. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
