|bd| Ballmer Pitches Windows 1.0

Today I came across something absolutely hilarious. An old video of Steve Ballmer peddling Windows 1.0! As far I can tell it's real. This just can't be beat.

After that one, watch the one titled Developers. It's almost as good.

As far as my life goes, I am busy out of my mind. So busy that I don't even have time to write about it!

Just to keep this from being tagged, I'll tell you about the computer security horror story in progress. The so-called Storm Worm has been many electronic making headlines lately.

It is currently the largest known botnet on the planet, and boasts several million zombies at its disposal. It is the most dangerous trojan to date, and it employs a wide variety of defenses:

-Rootkits

-Lobotomizes anti-virus (so they still run but do nothing)

-Detects probing of it's network and retaliates by DDos'ing researchers' networks

-Uses strong encryption for it's private P2P control network

-Decentralized control so there is no central server to shut down

-Is estimated to have more computer power than most supercomputers, and possibly has enough bandwidth at its disposal to take entire countries offline

This is the biggest threat computer security has ever seen, and it's just getting worse. It's already taken sites like Spamhaus offline at times, and it continues to shut down researchers that try to probe the extent of its network. Perhaps it will decimate the net as we know it an people will finally start adopting Linux en-masse.

Can't hate a man for being passionate, and his annual salary is probably 10 million times greater then yours, so I bet he is going to have the last laugh. Also, if you think linux is the solution to all computer problems, you have another thing coming.

Linux doesn't break itself, and it's security is tight.
