Several weeks ago I decided that I was going to break down and buy some quality headphones. I first tried the AKG K77's and was dissatisfied. I researched in excess of 8 hours before deciding on the AKG K240 Studios. (Note that I looked at many other brands, I just happened to decide on a pair of AKG's.) I am very pleased with them. The sound is natural and rich, not quite up to the good old Pioneer cabinet speakers at my house, but still better than any other headphones I have tried.
If you look at my last post, you can see a different pair of cans hanging up. Mentally replace those with this gorgeous device. There is one drawback - they are too hard for my MyTouch3G to drive properly. The bass is just not there. The solution is a portable headphone amp.Last night, I was poking around the university library and made a wonderful discovery. One of the wings houses a collection of classical vinyl records. There are about 3,000 or so just tucked away back there. I asked some other guys in the dorm about them, and was surprised that only one person even knew they existed. Turns out his dad was the librarian that organized it (he is a staff kid), because some wealthy collector donated them years ago.So now, I've been going over there and sampling old albums. I really like the large images and background stories on the sleeves - something CD's are sadly lacking. The only drawback is that the turntables are really cheap.I already bought good headphones, and now I'm looking at turntables and portable amps. I also want to buy a lot more music. Audio could prove to be a very expensive hobby…
P.S. Sorry for such a poorly written ramble, but I need to get other things done and don't have time to shorten it.
Yeah, to even try to use 'dj' equipment, you either buy something that sounds like crap or you end up saving up to buy something expensive.
for me its not worth it because audio is not my passion ;)cool headphones, tho personally i like the modern/future designs.
