|bd| What I've Been Doing, and Why I'm a Zombie

Posted by bendodge on Dec. 2, 2011, 3:13 p.m.

I'm two weeks from finals, in the middle of project land.

I have clean laundry piled up that hasn't been folded since Sunday afternoon when I washed it. Tonight I have a play performance (sound technician) and then I'll be cleaning for White Glove check tonight. Tomorrow morning brings an early rehearsal for church Christmas program half an hour's drive from here, then a 3-hr group project (grading each other) in the afternoon, then a second run of the play tomorrow evening. Sunday morning I'll go to church, then Sunday afternoon I'll meet with one person to write the script and design the slides for a group Literary Anthology presentation, Monday evening the whole group will meet and start learning parts (with more practices after that that we haven't scheduled yet), Wednesday I give a big speech I've barely drafted, Friday is the Anthology project presentation and the due date for my Audio Engineering final project (which I haven't started). There's also a small paper due Friday and misc. tests throughout the week.

I'm a coffee addict. I order Lavazza with Amazon Prime Student and make it in my little espresso machine I got for $5 at Goodwill. I'm ruined for life; I can't bear most gas station/dining hall/etc coffee anymore. It's nasty stuff.

I was falling asleep standing up while "vidcasting" (is that even a word?) a basketball game last night. That's scary. I also sent an email in which I left off in the middle of a sentence and started the next paragraph.I've been sleeping 2-3 hrs a night. I have not clipped my fingernails in a week. I've got two laptops and two external drives I'm working on for other students and another request in my inbox I'm ignoring for the moment. I don't know what I would do without prayer and God's help in all this. Probably have a breakdown.

Speaking of breakdowns, I accidentally dived (read: fell) off the stage yesterday in a skit the Student Body Council asked me to participate in. I was running across the stage with my briefcase, and sort of pitched headfirst off the steps on the other side. I lost a shoe, which someone had the presence of mind to throw after me. I jumped up and kept running, but I was thinking only about my HTC G2, which I fell right on, and my netbook inside the briefcase (stupid of me not to take it out in advance). I have a phone-shaped bruise on my leg, but somehow nothing was damaged. Today I'm sore, and I have a zillion people congratulating me on my awesome performance, because they thought I intended to faceplant.

Thank you for reading my vent. It has helped me coalesce everything in my own brain. I hate small groups. Dramas are black holes sucking in all time and energy. Please ignore any mistakes in here, as I just sort of burped it out. Carry on!

Get some sleep, and don't consume so much caffeine, you arse.

Oh yeah, I also work 14 hrs a week for the Technology Dept. :P

I deliberately took 16 credits instead of 18 so this time of year wouldn't be so bad, but these drama things are the killer. There are so many rehearsals, and they take all evening…

Grouching about it makes me feel better, though.

BD, you are the most involved, professional dude-I-don't-know. Good luck with everything. :P

I'm actually in the tech dept. now. (We waste far too much time online here.)

So, I'm starting a "radio audit." I'm at a small school (<1k students), and I had no idea till today that we have over 100 analog Motorola radios floating around various departments. So now I get to find them all and make sure people haven't lost them…
